Billy Joel.
I clicked this thread to post just this. Saw him at Wembley, think it was two years ago. Absolutely magnificent, tear inducing joy.
I knew you’d be all over this thread dude!
Thought you 'd join me in the I'm-no-Socialist-but-I-love-Billy-Bragg brigade!

Rick Astley ... sang his new song, “Try”, and I thought that his voice was more than okay, just my 2 cents.
Thing about that whole stock/aitken/waterman thing in those days was they were capable of taking someone talentless and making them sound like they had a reasonable amount of talent, or take someone really talented and dumb them down till they sounded like they had exactly the same reasonable amount of talent as all of the other 'stars' in their stable.

Paul's voice is totally shot.
Saw him at the Kings Dock in Liverpool and then a few years later at Anfield the change was noticeable.

Now I'm no fan...

(well I suppose Devil Women, when it was in the charts was better than a lot of other crap, and as a small child I did watch in wonder as the Bus went off to Greece in Summer Holiday, but you know what I mean)

....but taking very much by surprise by Harry Rodger Webb crooning away live on Loose Ends, R4, Saturday night!!!

Perhaps he should be in the 'singer/songwriters' that still have it.
Saw him do that song couple years back on jools holland, great song and the lead guitarist soubded great too, as did the whole mix, was taken off youtube though for some reason.
Watched documentary other day and Yes were on it, lead singer still sounds great for his age, one of those singers that just sounds like he talks. :-)

Can't think of many who still fully 'have it' other than Mick Jagger but as has been pointed out earlier he wasn't the most gymnastic singer to start with.

A lot's to do with one's style of singing. Cliff Richard just warbles a bit so there wasn't a great deal to lose in the first place. It's blatant that Robert Plant or Roger Daltrey weren't going to be able to keep it up for decades on end.

Same reason musicals never have singers worth that are remotely compelling. You certainly couldn't do a full set of Judas Priest 8 times a week for years on end.

Saw Don Henley live at Manchester Arena a couple years back and at 68, he still sounded amazing, sang for over two hours and still fresh at the end of it.
Peter Gabriel was fantastic when I last saw him- some of the higher songs taken down a key or two, but as others have said, knowing your limitations is important! His voice still sounds the same.
I'm not a big Iron Maiden fan but Bruce Dickinson still has fantastic pipes.
Justin Sullivan of New Model Army is past 60 and still sounds fantastic, I think if anything he sounds better with age.
Tori Amos is well into her 50s and still glorious as ever.

Totally agree with Justin Sullivan. So looking forward to Koln and Amsterdam gigs.

My wife went to see Frankie Valli at the O2 on Sunday evening, she said that his voice was terrific, I Googled him, and he was born in 1934, so he’s 84, that can’t be bad.

Disagree, he plays it super safe vocally now. Only pitches what he can reach. It’s very clipped.

Tim Booth, lead vocalist of James - still gets all the notes.

Agreed. Saw him at Glastonbury in 2016 I think it was. Deeply enjoyable, despite having no strong feelings towards ELO prior.
