My wife is going nuts right now.

My Chemical Romance have announced a show in the UK. Great!

It's on the same night as Rammstein, though, for which we already have tickets. Boo!

Same week as Green Day too.
Yeah I’d said of take a friend to MCR but I’ll be at Rammstein, hopefully add a 2nd date

Peat and Diesel - Manchester.

Was gutted to just miss out on their Christmas gig in Stornoway so this makes up for it.

Seeing them at the Barras in November. Couldn't get tickets anywhere else sooner in Scotland. Hope they haven't fizzled out by then.

We're hoping they announce more dates too.

In the meantime, we've got tickets for Rammstein and Green Day, but we can't see MCR. I said to her we should book some Meatloaf tickets to make up for the disappointment. Well, two out of three ain't bad...

Genuinely excited to be going to my first Gig in 15 years at The Scala.

Teddy Swims with Elefvants is playing his first UK dates in May. It’s only £16 a ticket too.

Bit late to the party for the 2020 thread.

19th Jan - Ryan Bingham in Dublin
21st Jan - Stereophonics @ Kentish Town

I'd never been to Dublin so used the gig as a good excuse to go with the girlfriend, despite the UK shows this week. Plus a work trip to the states tomorrow meant Brighton was a no goer! Ryan was superb as always and I hung around for half an hour and met him as they closed the venue. Really nice bloke.

First time seeing the phonics in years too and they were also superb. Have missed seeing them! The queues were insane to get in, never seen anything like it. First band I ever saw live back in 2003 so they will always be special to me.

Next up: Brian Fallon in May. Gutted to be missing out on his 100 Club gig next week too!

Ahhhhh, fudge! Thanks for the heads-up. I went straight on and tried to get a ticket but nothing doing. Only three ticket types showing as available, as in three specific areas on the stadium map. But when I clicked on any of them and was shown the "we're taking you to the checkout" message, it came back with "sorry, we couldn't find your tickets" every single time. So I'm guessing there were pending transactions on all of them, and that it will, within minutes, once again be showing as 'Sold Out' for the show on the 21st. Grrrrr. Fingers crossed now for another date, perhaps?

Secondary ticket market won't be getting my dime either. I don't buy the "we bought tickets for MCR but within seconds discovered a clash and now need to sell them" ballcocks for a minute. So in my opinion anyone selling on tickets is going to be a crooked chancer. I'd rather never see a gig again than give a single penny to touts and assorted other maggots out to rip off genuine fans.

Edit:

As predicted, I went back on the Ticketmaster site and they were down to 2 ticket types, both Platinum, priced at either £245 or £320. Neither yielded a ticket when selected, and when I tried to search again it just says "no ticket types" so I think that's the last one gone. Mrs YJ is gonna be miserable when she finds that I have failed her once again... frown

Another edit:

Back in again, on the off chance that someone has failed to complete a sale in the time limit, and two options back up. A £240 Platinum ticket in Sect 22 Row G, and a box with restaurant hospitality package at £295. but once again neither option yields a ticket. Then those options disappear, and another two Platinum ticket options show as available. I'm making the mistake of getting excited at the possibility of seeing the band each time, then my hopes are dashed when the system tells me " We couldn't find you a ticket. Please select another listing, or adjust your criteria and try again." It's like a stage farce, I'm chasing my own tail here and I'm not even convinced any of these tickets actually exist.

I just looked on See Tickets, who I find pretty good, and they had 1 seated ticket for &71 for the Saturday, if any use to you.

That's the issue really. There are single seated tickets available from Ticketmaster, but my search criteria was originally three tickets, then dropping to two (I can duck out if needed, but i'd like to get my wife a ticket, along with my son who has never seen the band whereas I have). The whole gig thing is like the cinema or the theatre. There is no real NEED to be seated next to someone you know, but the bond is somewhat broken on the shared experience even if you are at the same gig but seated in different areas.

I'll turn over my search history to her so she knows I tried ( wink ) but for now we'll just have to "make do" with Rammstein and Green Day. If there's another date we'll try again for tickets, if not then we'll just have to hope that this reformation lasts and morphs into a world tour on the back of new music. I waited 21 years to get to see The Police, having failed to see them up until they split in 1986. I hope I don't have to wait until I'm 70+ to see MCR again, but hey? Maxïmo Park and Fiction Plane supporting The Police at Twickenham was worth the wait, so even if they have to wheel me in in my bath chair...

As long as she doesn't say "I Don't Love You", you should be fine.

All was well. She was surprised that I even knew about the extra date to be fair - me having tried to buy tickets was a bonus. She went on the web herself when she got home, and did eventually end up with a couple of the most expensive tickets at 'checkout'. But she made her own decision that it was too much to pay to see a band she'd already seen. So she didn't buy them. She's sad about it, but that's the way it is.

As an aside, she's said that "MCR have gone down in my estimation..." over the Ticketmaster thing. Several other bands we've seen have not gone along with the Ticketmaster Platinum "demand driven pricing" ballcocks, and have instead made sure there is a set face value for tickets. Biffy Clyro even went as far as requiring photo ID at a gig to prove you were the person named on the tickets, helping to damp down the profiteering nature of the secondary ticket market. MCR pretty much knew they'd sell out these gigs, so to see pretty much standard seated tickets with no packaged benefits or added value going out the door for over £250 is just madness. I doubt very much the band are broke, and many bands are quite vocal about profiteering on the secondary market so it seems to be poor taste for a big band like MCR to be participating in this distasteful practice on the primary ticketing site. No doubt the bot-masters will have hoovered up large parts of the ticket allocation anyway, as evidenced by the volume of tickets available on secondary selling sites mere minutes after they'd gone on sale.

Another reason she decided not to buy was that she's 52 this year, and with Rammstein the night before in Coventry and Green Day in London within a week, she felt that it would just be too much for her, what with the late nights and all the travelling. It's probably the first time that she's genuinely accepted that age is creeping up on her and that she's 'Not Nineteen Forever' and pulled herself together wink Fingers crossed now for a new album, perhaps, and/or a proper multi-date tour following on from this isolated two-night show at Stadium MK.

The Zombies in May. For 2 old geezers in their early 70s they are great on stage.

And I just tried to book John Grant in Manchester and it's sold out (boo).

I saw Badly Drawn Boy at the Roundhouse in Camden last night. Absolutely brilliant gig. He did an hour solo, about 50 minutes with a band and then came back for 10 minutes at the end on his own again in what I think was the first genuine encore I've ever seen - the house lights had been switched on, but he just wandered back on stage a said something along the lines of "since we are all here..." and finished off with a cover of "I Wanna Be Adored". Great night.

If she likes her emo then Silverstein and Hawthorne heights are in the UK start of February.

Or if you want some good rock then menzingers and Spanish love songs are also on tour

Postmodern Jukebox at the Palladium in October.

Haley Reinhart at Bush Hall in May.

Possibly considering Sara Neimitz and Snuffy Walden in April too.
