Is that albums or people?

Nothing wrong with either I'd suggest?

Good thread. I'm downloading Purple Penguin at the moment to my Spotify.

The albums. hehe

I know, just spoofing. I guess I'm still a punk at heart, they sought to delete just about every album in the lists.

On a serious note though albums arent so much of a "thing" these days. Its singles and playlists. I like some modern music, but I just add the single in Apple music.

Bang on the money there!
I'm listening to LCD Soundsystem, Sounds of Silver, at the moment. I wouldn't dream of skipping a track. But I'm not from the instant gratification generation.

TEN? mad
I couldn't survive with just 10 albums (me? a fossil, on an island, alone? I'd need a couple hundred albums ...minimum!).

Oh well (I'd want all versions of that for starters, from P. Green's original to Steve Marriott's version!)…
here goes, first ten, straight off the top of my head, no order.

Argus - Wishbone Ash
Then Play On - Fleetwood Mac
Rumours - Fleetwood Mac
Mojo (tour edition)- Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
The Live Anthology album - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
Time Space - Stevie Nicks
Driving to Damascus - Big Country
Under Cover - Big Country
Accept Chicken Shack - Chicken Shack
The Best of... - Savoy Brown
Bella Donna - Stevie Nicks

hehe Oh fk, that's eleven already.
Cut one out for me, I can't!

edited - I put Argos instead of Argus! LOL
also, I'd want all their albums, all of 'em.

I only need one ,it goes round and round constantly in my car CD player.

Propaganda......A secret wish.

Reminds me ,I need to disconnect the car battery so the radio loses it's memory and stops playing CDs on shuffle.

Rumours
John Martyn - Well Kept Secret
Judie Tzuke - Welcome To The Cruise
Brenda Russell - Brenda Russell (1979 album)
Steely Dan - Aja
Chic - C'est Chic
Everything But The Girl - Temperamental
Joe Walsh - But Seriously, Folks
Dire Straits - Making Movies
Doobie Brothers - Minute By Minute
Good list and not dissimilar to mine.... might swap Making Movies for Communiqué and I'd need Desire by Dylan, maybe take Chic out.

I'd miss Supertramp.

I presume you both drove BMW 3 series in the mid eighties?

To paraphrase the late Roy Schieder, ''we're going to need a bigger desert island...'' wink

My ten...

The Stones - Beggar's Banquet

The Who - Who's Next

Scott Walker - Scott

Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico

Cream - Disraeli Gears

Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells

The Gentle People - Soundtrack For Living

Iggy & The Stooges - Fun House

Ennio Morricone & Edda Dell'Orso - Metti Una Sera a Cena (soundtrack)

Michel Legrande - Le Mans (soundtrack)

Backed up with dozens of compilations, it would be impossible to keep it down to ten!

Truly an impossible task. With well over 10,000 albums to hand, I'd struggle even to nominate my top 100.

I mean, just look at some of the classics which didn't make it through!

Atomic Kitten - Ladies Night
Blue - All Rise
Carly Rae Jepson - Kiss
Destiny's Child - Survivor
Girls Aloud - The Sound of Girls Aloud
Janet Jackson - Control
Kylie Minogue - Let's get to it
Lily Allen - Alright Still
Take That - Never Forget
Westlife - Westlife

And in spite of a heartless cull, how can a top 10 exclude the likes of The Doors, Led Zep, Joni Mitchell, The Stranglers, Duran Duran(!) etc?

So here's the final ten - as it's a desert island scenario, I felt it really had to reflect a broad range of my favourite music. I could easily have picked ten heavy rock albums from the early 70s... and I'd have have been bored sick of them within a few days.

Bauhaus - In the Flat Field
Black Sabbath - Vol. 4
Deep Purple - In Rock
DJ Shadow - Endtroducing
Doobie Brothers - Minute by Minute
Goldie - Timeless
Neu! - Neu!
Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine
Rammstein - Rammstein
Scooter - Jumping all over the World
The Damned - Damned Damned Damned
The Human League - Dare!
Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat

And I can still have a Carpenters 'Best of' too though, right? wink

Yep, it's a tough one so straight off the top of my head... with the exception of a few it would be different tomorrow, and I had to cull a few!

Mansun - 'Six'
Oceansize - 'Frames'
Death Cab For Cuties - 'Plans'
The Prodigy - 'Music For The Jilted Generation'
The Bluetones - 'Expecting To Fly'
Boards of Canada – 'Geogaddi'
Doves - 'Lost Souls'
Green Day – 'American Idiot'
School of Seven Bells – 'Ghostory'
Foals – 'Total Life Forever'

It's all about taking advantage of the desert island situation to practice 'the dance' while no-one's looking hehe
