No mention of Stu Hamm?

Saw him years ago playing with Joe Satriani & Michael Schenker, great bass player able to keep up with Joe Satriani which is no mean feat!

Good shout. I had forgotten about Carol Kaye.... she has played on more records than you could shake a stick at.

The Carol Kaye book was my 2nd tutorial when I was taking bass lessons in 64 so a major influence on my playing along with Sir Paul

Surprised that there has only been one mention of Joe Dart!

The guy is an absolute monster and making his name as a modern day great?!

Been learning Dean Town this week - Its a killer... even the intro is hard to maintain even 1/16th's

If you can find the clip of him playing 'Close To The Edit' that's even better, they rattle through it at twice the speed of the recorded version.

Another shout for Derek Forbes of Simple Minds, he's all over their early stuff and the band lost a lot when he left.

And finally John Wetton (King Crimson) who I don't think has been mentioned yet.

My two pennyworth:

Jet Harris - who hasn't even been mentioned yet although he virtually invented it!

Sir Paul of Liverpuddle - who perfected it.

All you need, really.

Honorable mentions:

John Entwistle
Les Holroyd
John Lodge
Phil Lynott
John McVie
David Paton
Mike Rutherford
Chris Squire
Roger Waters
Gary Taylor
