Another ten:
The Stranglers - Although I know nothing of them after Cornwell left.
PJ Harvey - Has nobody else mentioned her? Wow!
The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Just so many good tunes.
Wire - Again so many good tunes
Dr Feelgood - A bit young to appreciate them at the time but my wife who saw them loads of times with Lee Brilleaux confirms how ace they were.
The Transglobal Underground - Soundtrack of mid 90s London after party chilling out.
The Patti Smith Group/Patti Smith - Again no previous mentions
Iggy and the Stooges/Iggy Pop - Remember hearing Raw Power round a mate's house around 1982 for the first time and it just blew me away.
Killing Joke - Such a great, dark band.
UK Subs - Up there with the Damned as one of the best Punk bands and they just don't stop playing. Seen them countless times and they're always deafening. Charlie's 75!
Another ten isn’t allowed and I even if it was you surely can’t believe those bands should appear in the top fifty? The Stranglers - Although I know nothing of them after Cornwell left.

My top ten, in no particular order. These are the ten bands/artists whose back catalogue I'd want if I were stuck on a desert island, to me 'best' is simply defined by what I like to listen to - none of yer 'oh, you have to have....on the list'
1. Pearl Jam
2. The Twilight Sad
3. The Charlatans
4. U2
5. The Stone Roses
6. The Eagles
7. Smashing Pumpkins
8. REM
9. The Who
10. Big Country
Edited to add in number 4 which mysteriously vanished...
