Thanks for the advice chaps, much appreciated. Will have a look into them suggestions throughout the day. Found myself on Ebay intrigued about the Wilkinson sets but there's not much comparison videos on You Tube.

Ahh yes of course @languagetimothy. Forgot about the capacitors, will need to look into that too I guess. 1 annoying thing is the Tone and Volume don't work until the rotation ends, would like a more linear feel so hopefully that'll fix that. Doubt I'll bother with the full plates as mine is a Jaxville Skyll. Probably not to everyone's taste but in person it's really nice and feels nice too plus it's my 1st electric guitar as a gift so I can't get rid really.

Cheers @OldSkoolRS. I'll just be sat next to the Boss Katana in the living room, still learning (just over a year in) so hopefully the buzzing wouldn't be too much of an issue for me. Will have a look into the PV65s. I've not done much soldering but will give a try.

@singlecoil Just had a quick look at them pickups but I'm not sure they'll fit, look a bit big but I'll defo do some research on the brands as they seem to do some cheap pickups.

Understandably £50 isn't much and I could probably stretch a wee bit more but would probably wince at doing so as I'm just looking for something that doesn't sound terrible for now. After upgrading the bridge, tuners and pots it'll all add up. Will do so over time though as I'm in no rush, still learning my A B Cs smile

Thanks again chaps.

Failing that, I have a couple of lines on to win a Gibson Gold Top for tonights comps on Guitar Gear Giveaway smile

The tone /volume problems will probably be the “pots” which is the actual unit for those controls. I’d seriously consider the loaded pickguard option as you get everything included capacitors, pots and all the wiring. If the scratch plate doesn’t fit just use the original and load that up. Takes a little more time but easy.

Sound is obviously also greatly influenced by the Amp. A good Amp will flatter a not so good guitar whereas a good guitar will be a bit “meh” through a crap Amp. …. But that’s another rabbit hole!

When did you last change the strings? Always my first port of call when things start to sound a bit muddy.
Setup next, then amp, last of all hardware.

The search for tone is eternal, an entire multi millions industry is built on it. But I would endorse freshie strings. Don't gig anymore but when I was I changed strings about every fortnight & even then felt I was stretching things out a bit.

Not that I'm above it. Jeff Beck noiseless pickups have been on my main working guitar for years now.
