If he'd just stabbed Delilah and the Police are about to break down the door, why is he asking person or persons unknown to bring her to him? Presumably either he and a very cross Delilah or he and her body are still there. If not, where is he?
I always preferred the SAHB version

"I thought this was the 'Where was Tom' thread."
"Do what?"
"Okay, have it your way. Where was Alex?"
"The Hammersmith Odeon. 1975."

"Where was Tom?"
"Windsor Castle. With the Queen."
"Different Tom."

Why did Marie Claire keep Rolling Stones records and a friend of Sacha Distel in her fancy apartment?

You live in a fancy apartment
Off the Boulevard St. Michel
Where you keep your Rolling Stones records
And a friend of Sacha Distel, yes you do

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to either have more records or to have Mick or Keef pop by every so often to feed the cat?

Even world wide no.1 hits sometimes make no sense. Part of the charm. Welcome to PH.

Thank you. I'll have a wander round and see if much else makes sense.

The narrator of Whiskey In The Jar robs Captain Farrell and takes the money back to Molly, she betrays him to the Captain and he finishes up in prison - "the Devil take that woman cos you know she tricked me easy."

If Molly was as bad as we are led to believe, why didn’t she just take the money and scarper when he was asleep? "Me, I like sleepin', especially in Molly's chamber."

It don't make no kinda sense.

What the hell was going on for the entirety of Whiter Shade of Pale?

None of it makes sense.
I raise you 'Sunshine Help Me'.
Released roughly about the same time...

Funky lights and timeless nights
Crazy dreams and mind-blowing schemes
Will get you, yeah yeah yeah

People's talking about the hawk
Trippin' round a clock around the block

Turn your mind if you're the kind
Then get your mind turned easy
Turn your mind if you're the kind
Get your mind turned easy

So sunshine help me
Sunshine help me
Take this haze away
Sunshine help me

Coloured pictures on the wall
Of things you never thought you saw
Really saw before, yeah yeah yeah

Sleep in dreams like in seams
Of eagles who you've never seen
It will turn you
Will open doors
A better house with slim walls

Sunshine help me
Sunshine help me
Take this haze away
Sunshine help me

Absolutely ^ And Keith Reid wrote most of the 'non-sensical' lyrics for Procol Harum. Check out 'In Held T'was I'

Well I've been through all the utterances attributable to Davey Crockett that I can find but not once anywhere does he ever say that it's cool for cats. In fact I don't remember any so-called cowboy ever saying it. So that's just plain wrong.

Furthermore, why would the Indians start sending signals if they're about to attack the cowboys? Wouldn't that somewhat give their game away? I'd go as far as to suggest this signalling blunder by the indians was what allowed the cowboys time to take their positions in the bushes and the grass and avoid being taken by surprise. Uncharacteristically poor tactics by the indians there, I feel.

Who goes to an incubator to have a baby? biggrin

I took her rather nifty
Down to an incubator
Where thirty minutes later
She gave birth to a daughter

Probably the same person who connected Maid Marian to William Tell.

The Indians send signals from the rocks above the pass
The cowboys take position in the bushes and the grass
The squaw is with the Corporal...

Hold up! Corporal? Cowboys don't have Corporals. Was this a Joint Operation between the cowboys and the US Cavalry?

Hey, Mr. Churchill comes over here
To say we're doing splendidly
But it's very cold out here in the snow
Marching to and from the enemy
Oh I say it's tough, I have had enough
Can you stop the cavalry?

No, good try, but when I worked in Norbiton and stayed overnight, I used to go and see him once a month in the Bulls Head in Barnes.

Which reminds me...

The only thing a gambler needs is a suitcase and a trunk

That's two things.
