What bands 'should' have been bigger?
Discussion
Have we had The Alarm yet?
I love them, but feel they could have had more success than they did. Maybe they weren’t that easy to pigeon hole; not quite punk, or rock, or metal and very different to any of the mainstream stuff around in the mid 80s. Quite a raucous sound, 68 Guns is a classic but plenty of their less well known songs were really good too, for example Blaze Of Glory).
I believe Mike Peters (the lead singer) still tours and performs but not sure if it’s with the rest of the band; I must check this out as I’d love to see him / them.

I give you Audioweb.
Battered the album and it is one of 5 cd's in my car. Fireworks City.

Probably dismissed by the industry because too political at the time perhaps?

I’m very happy there’s been a lot of love for Kerbdog - so good. Lots of other big favourites mentioned too - Kyuss, Fu Manchu, Monster Magnet, Therapy?, Reuben, Porcupine Tree etc, etc.
A few bands I’d like to mention that I haven’t seen are Man Will Surrender (very Kerbdog/Helmet esque) produced by Garth Richardson of On The Turn sound, Groop Dogdrill - a quality hard rocking band, saw them supporting Therapy?, Far - an influential ‘emo’ band when emo was emotional hardcore not what the heck it is now. More recently Exit Ten were great and had it all, shame they called it a day.

Longpigs. Saw them live a few times and loved their album The sun is often out. Much more depth than many of their contemporaries in the Brit pop/rock scene.

Amazing song.
Richard Hawley went on to write plenty of good songs as he's a very talented singer and songwriter. His album Cole's Corner is great, relaxing and warm:

I love the name, The Longpigs.
Otherwise known as us!
All of us.
People used to eat people and probably still do. Cannibals.
We are all long pigs!

I practiced with this lot a few times in the 90’s when they were looking for an extra guitar player. They made a proper racket with one guitar so I declined, not sure it woulda worked out anyhow as the music wasn’t completely my cuppa & likely my style wasn’t theirs. The first album was a belter & live they were mega. Trophy Husband said:

I loved Audioweb - Still listen to both of their albums, some absolutely cracking tracks - Got into them after seeing them support U2 on their Popmart tour, funnily enough alongside Longpigs that have had so many mentions on this thread, and whose albums I also loved. The lead singer from Audioweb had a new band a few years ago (Supajamma) that I really liked, but other than an EP and a couple of singles they didn't seem to go anywhere

Foo foghters?
I mean they are epic and huge already but the smash Green Day / linkin park

Just skimming through this thread to see what suggestions there are. This post made me laugh. I mean they are epic and huge already but the smash Green Day / linkin park

Don’t get me wrong I love the Foo Fighters; I’ve seen them 4 times over the past 20 years, but what I can’t get my head around is the suggestion that they should’ve been bigger
I mean where do you start with that? How “big” could they be?
