Gig Plans - 2021
Discussion
Jimmy Carr last night at The Apollo, Manchester. Not music I know, but the first indoor gig of any kind for me since the plague struck and the Gov stole 18 months off me.
Rammed. No masks. People laughing heartily. 2 vax check on the way in. Life affirming, and a good tonic. Some very funny jokes. In fact thousands of them. JC is the consummate professional and he must have an extraordinary memory.

Due to see him at Wrexham in Jan but the venue operator just gone bust. Hopefully another firm will step in but Jason Manford was due there this week and I hear people lost their money.Rammed. I've got my first gig next Saturday and the venue's website makes no mention of anything at all; social distancing, masks, vaccine checks, nothing at all.
I shall report back once I've been.
It's a good few weeks ahead if, like me, you're a Manic Street Preachers nut.
New album released a week today then on 18th / 19th September, the rearranged NHS gigs in Cardiff take place. Then to wrap it all up, they play Bath Forum on 13th October, my closest gig and one that's a piece of cake to do by train!!

I've just been emailed to say I need to show my Covid Passport. That thing that the Government said they had no plans for.
Think I got the same email from Kentish Town O2 - Negative LFT, double jab or positive PCR with the past 6 months. Whether it's actually checked is another thing.North West Tom said:

As you say, will it actually be enforced ?
I've done two post-Lockdown festivals now (Camper Calling and End Of The Road) where we avoided any indoor tents/spaces but I've got my first rescheduled indoor gig tonight, Teenage Fanclub at Kentish Town Forum.
After much discussion with 'er indoors I have decided to give it a miss, purely on the basis that I was on the clinically vulnerable list and, whilst we believe and trust in the science of the vaccine and I'm long-since double-jabbed (I was done with all the 80yos!), we're still just a bit wary of poorly ventilated indoor spaces being Covid hotspots.
My gig buddy of 20yrs standing is going. If he cops the 'Rona it'll prove us right to be wary, if he doesn't then I'll be happy to start returning. I know that's not the most scientific approach, but it's as good as I can muster in the circs.
It's been a real strange 18 months - when you are used to going to at least two gigs a month, then get an NHS letter saying, "you're extremely vulnerable, don't leave your house, not even to empty the bins" it takes a bit of adjustment.

Two next week both at the Eden Project - Eden Sessions.
Thursday - Snow Patrol
Friday - The Script
Staying in St Austell for a few days then up north to Newquay on Saturday for some local band gigs in a pub. Nice little break.
Anybody been to a concert at the Eden Project?

Negatives are you get lots of people not used to gigs who over react when drinks get spilt or they get pushed .
A friends husband grabbed a girl back to her feet in a mosh pit he was thrown out as the girl told the security he'd touched her tits , proceed with caution.
I've had Diamond Head and Love/Hate waiting for restrictions to lift for ever now, due Jan and Feb '22, respectively.
Also, Henning Wehn postponed repeatedly, now coming in October this year.
Promised myself to go see more concerts in the future, as lockdown made me realise how much I missed live music.
Although living in west Wales does make life more difficult for some of the bigger names...
Have recently booked Kevin Bloody Wilson in November - the whole family is coming to that one
And just noticed The Sweet are playing Cardiff SU in Dec, so booked and now grinning like a loon as I'm basically an old glam rocker at heart - I was born a few years too late ('71) to see these bands the first time around (I did get a lot of Hair Metal in during the 80's and 90's )... and I love smaller venues like the SU - enough people for a crowd, but right there with the band
Quite fancied going to see Roger Daltrey - I could make it to the Oxford show and stay overnight as I'm off work the day after... but £157 for a ticket???!!!
Sorry, Mr Daltrey, that's 2 or three times too much

That's mega steep, I thought £102 for the Feuerzone at Rammstein was a bit steep but wow.Quite fancied going to see Roger Daltrey - I could make it to the Oxford show and stay overnight as I'm off work the day after... but £157 for a ticket???!!!
