Not even sure novelty so can be crap is acceptable. Alestorm are novelty pretty much (pirate metal always will be) yet have solid music that's well written and great to listen too as well as completely silly songs like Fcensoredd With an Anchor. Bands can be novelty and good.

I do a lot of last minute gigs... Since September, I've made up for lost time this year and seen the following:

The Sisters of Mercy - a better setlist than usual.
Bauhaus - only the 2nd time I've seen them, and as great as expected.
Soft Cell - again, 2nd time seeing them. Marc's voice still has it!!
Squarepusher - My brother's influence. I'm not too familiar with SP but it didn't matter, I'd go again.
Dave Gahan and Soulsavers - One of the best frontmen I've ever seen, whether here or with his other band. I really didn't expect to hear Personal Jesus. Not my favourite DM song, but still gig of the year!

I did also make it to End of the Road Festival, so not a bad year considering everything.

Nothing else for 2021.
I made it down to EoTR for two nights - got a Covid cancellation tickets off Twickets for 99 quid!

Normally we go as a family but it clashed with school starting so wife and son had to miss it, but she sent me as I've been well-behaved this year. It was good to 'fly solo' in a backpacking tent - normally we go with caravan, awning, the full shebang. We are already booked in for 2022, looking forward to it.

It's a great festival, isn't it?

I first went in 2019, and loved it more than I thought I would. I eventually gave up on going to Reading(sort of, I'm going in 2022) and didn't expect much from such a small festival.

I love that you can set up camp with a group of mates all together and be a 5 min walk away from most of the stages. It's also all very polite!

I so wanted to go that I bought a ticket for a mate and myself even though there was a chance that I'd get press tickets...which I then ended up getting. Only managed to sell one of my tickets and that at a discounted rate. I'll remember next time if it happens again to give first dibs on here.I haven't been coming onto PH that much of late and so it didn't spring to mind!
