Dylan's Hurricane
Beat me to it. Probably the best example. smile
Yep this. I still remember the first time I heard it.

I was on a sailing boat around the whitsun islands, the sun was setting, i'd had a fish bbq & a few beers.

Listening takes me back perfectly every single time.
Exactly the same situation with me. Not the sailing, or islands; but vividly recall the time.

I could have posted "Most of Dylans stuff" smile

I think it's already been mentioned but the one song, for me, that really does tell a story, extremely vividly, is Labelled with Love by Squeeze

Highwayman - The Highwayman

Great bit of Cash, Jennings, Kristofferson and Nelson regaling another of Jimmy Webb’s finest.

The video is a bit dodgy and doesn’t particularly do the song justice, but you get 4 stories in one song at least

A different version... quite good.

Great shout ^^^ a classic under the radar song

Try ‘Clouds across the Moon’ by the Rah Band ....

“Next year !”

How about Barry Manilow ? Cococabana..... akin to Georgie Boy and Rodders

Or something a little more modern and relatable - the boy Ed Sheehan and Castle on the Hill

2112, The Necromancer, By Tor and The Snow Dog - actually you could throw a dart at a list of Rush's songs and get a story (decent one too)
