Am I the only one who felt a bit disappointed by New Order. Yes, they did some ok stuff, but imho, unlike Joy Division, they were nothing special
I have only got the double CD "Singles" of New Order and there is quite a few here that I don't like very much.
In fairness though, Joy Division were a very different band to New Order - Just taking Ian's lyrics away for one, and the band going off in new directions..

I do like this though. "Temptation"

I actually prefer new order to joy division. I like both but I probably got into new order first and then joy division through them.

This might be of interest to some ... pre-orders for signed editions of Fast Forward: Volume 2 by Stephen Morris, £20 to you. Signed Volume 1 goes for about £25 so kerching!

Quite enjoyed the first one (the acid story laugh) and got me to discover this obscure treat:

Just started listening to the audiobook of part 1 read by Stephen Morris himself. He’s such a likeable chap.

Everything is already arranged, there's no going back now

Is the keyboard player the same one as a few years back? I think she is

Yes. Gillian Gilbert has been in New Order since the beginning. I believe she is married to drummer Stephen Morris.

Why did Hooky leave New Order? Usually there is a clash of characters... Bernard Sumner?

Broadly, Hooky thought his bass was getting less and less part of the sound. The rest of them thought he was living in the past.

And then, later: a proper fallout over royalties; the sale of the Hacienda rights; Bad Lieutenant; The Light; ‘ttto’; miming accusations; and Johnny Marr smile

Hooky's bass was a key part of the Joy Division sound, and was the driver to so many of their songs - I loved it!

With New Order going down the path of keyboards, synth and new techniques, I guess the bass guitar became redundant...

And royalties/money - The biggest argument in a band......! or one of them..!

New order songs still sound quite modern to me and pretty timeless.

I was surprised looking through their classics on YouTube and seeing all the early and mid 80s dates.
