Sam Smith, his songs are so miserable and boring, completely overrated. Same goes for Adele.

Ed Sheeran is very similar, however there is some of his songs I quite like, can’t say I like any by Sam Smith.

Judging by previous episodes about 80% of Jools Holland's program. I record it now and then skim through the 20% I actually want to see.

I always feel it's a bit like when you go on holiday (well if you can remember those...) and go to watch some local show: Stuff you'd never dream of listening to at home, but you feel obliged to politely grin and bare it. Thank heavens for hard disc recorders and a wife who understands that I don't listen to Flamenco at home, so why should I just because I'm on holiday? smile

I should probably name names, though I heard that Michael Kiwanuka (had to search the spelling) is on JH tonight, so you might guess that'll be part of the 80% bit I'll skip tomorrow.

Most stuff from the 1960's.

The Beatles and anyone else who has that similar sound makes me want to never listen to music again.

Awful.

The Beatles? Led Zeppelin?

U wot m8!? furious

My CD playlist in the car: Beatles (Rubber Soul onwards) Led Zeppelin, Love (Forever Changes), and Miles Davis (A Kind of Blue).

Although I dislike contemporary commercial pop (however, I don't mind Dua Lipa and Sia), the absolute non-negotiables are: Blur and Oasis.

I never thought "playlist in the car... Led Zeppelin" and "I don't mind Dua Lipa" being in the same post.

Everyone raves about Oasis, but they've never done it for me, I like the odd song but most of it is pretty ste.

My Dad used to play Roger Whittaker whistling away in the car, I've picked up a lot of his music taste (The Cure, Depeche Mode, The Smiths) but Roger Whittaker has never played in my car. Looking back I think he only played it because he knew I hated it laugh
Before this Covid crap I blasted out Baby by Justin Bieber just to annoy and embarrass my cousin who'd asked for a lift, wonder where I get that from. My car connects to my iPhone and I can ask it to play any song on Apple Music, I don't have Justin Bieber on my playlists, just like to clarify that.

When I saw the thread title, my first thought was Phil Collins, closely followed by Genesis. I agree with most of the other names mentioned, in a "wildly overrated" rather than "off switch" kind of way. Disagree with The Pogues, a breath of fresh air! Also the Beatles were obviously fantastic, but "of their time".

Dammit I forgot Oasis. But thankfully it's already on the list.

I have to admit being into Oasis for a while - But listening to it now, which to be honest I don't, the music relies more on big overdubs than the music content itself..
