If it was one song it is "Loving You" from the early 70s.

The bit when she kind of screams is like nails on a blackboard to me.

The Smiths / Morrisey
Joy Division

I can pretty much tolerate anything else and like a wide variety of genres but the above grate on me despite giving them a good chance since my better half likes them.

Paul McCartney

U2

Amy Winehouse

The Pogues

Heather Small - her voice is like a knife scraping on poor quality crockery.
Dammit I forgot Oasis. But thankfully it's already on the list.
Double Dammit. I forgot Madness. I don't give a toss where his house is or how well his trousers fit!

This is quite interesting, of most of the artists mentioned so far, quite a few I'm not that keen on but wouldn't turn off the stereo. I think Sam Smith is the closest, to me he sound slike he needs to clear his thoat hehe

With that said my suggestions would be Stomzy and Dizzee Rascal. I was happy to see Joules Holland in the TV guide last night, flicked over, only to hear Mr Rascal shouting "Bonkers" in particularly out of tune and unplesant way into a microphone, and that was that. OFF!

Most Pop music, find it to be largely irritating crap, like its to real music what McDonalds is to food - it meets some kind of accountant types legal requirements criteria to qualify, but is unsatisfying crap.

I don't known how much that is the largely generic composition though, or more it being inflicted upon me against my will. Probably both.

How do you define ‘pop music’?

Even though I intended this to be specific to a band/artist - I am going to put an entire genre in.

Prog rock

Not progressive, not rock, not even classed as music. It is not anything other than self indulgent cacophony that makes my ears bleed and my head scream.

I'm not entirely sure and its an argument for the ages, I guess for me a catch all for what you'll hear if you flip on radio 1 or its 100 other soundalikes, catchy as in it grabs your attention but at the same time it just feels shallow like, no drive or depth or personality.

The only one that actually makes me change radio stations is Jamiroquai, genuinely makes me feel nauseous.

Blimey I haven’t listened to Radio 1 for years. I tune into Caroline or Magic nowadays. I like rock music but some may regard it as pop.

Ellie Goulding.

Had the misfortune to see a small part of a live set of hers once.

As someone on another forum accurately described it.......

`It was essentially an hour of being shouted at by a lovesick aerobics teacher`

Fkin terrible.
