Jamiroquai, O2 Dec 2017.

IMHO the sound was awful. Way too distorted, heavy, and bassy.

Bowie - Glass Spider Tour 1987 Wembley. Really looked forward to it, but it was just a self-indulgent snoorfest. frown Seriously disapointed.
Saw Bowie at MK Bowl a couple years after that, was poor. Couldnt hit the high notes and generally rubbish.

Cher and Alice Cooper at Wembley Arena, early 90s, both utter shyte.

Ian Brown supporting the MAnics at Wembley Arena - off his face and not interested.

Saw this thread and thought of this! We saw him at the NEC in 2002 on what was I presume the same tour?

Bon Jovi at villa park were a bit off, still a lot of fun but looked very much like they were going through the motions.

It pains me to say this as I’ve been a fan for ages, but blur are a rubbish band. Excellent production and Damon’s clever kinks remasters disguise the fact that live it just doesn’t really come together. I can see why oasis were such a juggernaut as (whilst this is based only on what I’ve seen on tv) their live shows look great.

James at the O2 Kentish Town. They’ve a great back catalogue but chose to do only a few of them and ALL of their new album.
I think that more your problem then them to be fair. I also saw there there 2016 right ? I thought they were awesome, why should bands have to play the greatest hits. They were touring the new album...

Yes, I’ll argue this too. They came to Worcester racecourse about five years ago and we all had a lovely time!

Radiohead. Sounded like a copy of the album to an extreme.
They go down as my best gig ever. I was not a fan, but happened to catch them in a Roman amphitheatre in Frejus, south of France, on the night England beat Germany. Place was bouncing and they were amazing.

Worst ever was Sigur Ros at Jodrell Bank - we needed pipe, slippers and a pipe to really enjoy the experience, was very dull.

I’ve seen radiohead do great gigs. This particular gig was played note for note, and just had no soul, in contrast to Amy winehouse which was polar opposite but also terrible.

I think my favourite gigs are when the act is only ‘slightly’ pissed. smile

I saw sigur ros at a cinema which was good as slippers stayed on, and he had a full visual show to keep you interested.

The Eagles, their musicianship was great but the sound wasn’t very good and there was very little interaction with the audience, it was like listening to a bad copy of the album.
I saw Queen a few years earlier and they were incredible, I was not expecting the Eagles to be as good but I was not expecting them to be so boring.

Years ago I used to work for an events team, mainly food and beverage but used to go to a few concerts that I would not normally chose to go to some were good e.g Elton John - I'm no fan but he has a talent.

The worst without a doubt was Status Quo. I'm sure they struggled to play there instruments. It was just noise but the fans loved them.

I was just listening to Avenged Sevenfold and I was struck by how I like their studio stuff compared with how dire I thought they were when I saw them live
To me Avenged come across as a band that hasn't really translated well to stadium shows. Saw them at Rock City after their first couple of albums and they were great.

First time seeing Metallica was at Download when Lars was taken ill. Played a short Metallica by numbers set and were all done in an hour. Contrast that to a couple of years later. Went with low expectations, two and a half hour set, Master of Puppets played in full. Different band all together. Suppose all bands have off days.

The Darkness, Nottingham, think it was 2005 ish.

Justin Hawkins was in the news about something the day before, he would not stop bhing about it throughout the whole concert. There was also one song, they all started way out of time and had to re-start, they just came across as thinking they were more famous than they actually were.

On a tangent, what happened to them? I appreciate they were a bit of a novelty act but they went from being huge festival headliners from not being heard of again and complete radio silence as well - almost like it was a guilty secret the music world wanted to hush up!

Split up for a bit due to drugs but re-formed some time ago and still going, albeit with smaller fanbase.

Black Grape on their tour for the first album. Must have been around 1995 and was at Sheffield Octagon Centre.

Love the Mondays and the first Black Grape album but Shaun was obviously stoned off his balls and the whole gig was just an incoherent mess.

Small world, I was at both those festivals and came here to post the exact same thing!

I saw The Killers at Hyde Park, 2016. (I think)

Anyway Elbow were supporting and I am a big Elbow fan, Scattered Black and Whites etc.

Lets be kind and say they aren’t really suited to Stadium gigs...

It’s funny how bands can vary so much. I saw Mumford + Sons in Belfast in 2010 (I think) in a tent and it was incredible. Saw them at Hyde Park a few years later and they were dreadful. They were supporting Arcade Fire, who were also terrible, but who I saw in both Madrid and Wembley and thought they were unbelievable.

Worst performance, hands down, was Bon Iver. Still love his stuff, but it’s not made for a big venue live performance in my view.
