Bowie at Wembley Arena around 1990. Dirge. The band just seemed to suck all the life of of the songs

The Darkness at Brighton Centre we're quite disappointing as well. Justin Hawkins was entertaining between the songs but they may as well have payed the albums because I could hardly tell the difference.

Bruce Springsteen a few years back at the Olympic Park in Stratford was surprisingly bad. It was just a wall of noise.

Nothing by Thieves, Bristol O2, a day or two after they were accused of sexual abuse. That was a dire gig, we left after 30 mins.

Also, saw Kasabian in the early 2000s, they weren’t bad, but their attitude stunk. Electric Six were the support act for them and they were an utter hoot.

Came on to say U2. Seems I am not alone...

Saw them in Roundhay Park, Leeds. Left after 25 minutes or so to beat the traffic. Still had to queue to get out of the car park. The only gig I have ever bailed on in 40 years.

I was at Reading 2009 when Caleb from Kings of Leon had his massive rant at the crowd for not being lively enough. It actually sounded great, and from where I was standing, people were having a great time. It was really bizarre and it wrecked the rest of the set. Following the rant, the crowd started booing and jeering for being unjustly ranted it.

A lot depends on the day, I suppose.

I saw Aerosmith in Dubai 2007 and they were attrocious, probably due to the heat you could tell they just wanted to get off the stage, when I'd seen them previously they'd been brilliant.

2014 Hyde Park I hate to say it, but Motorhead were awful, unfortunately you could tell Lemmy was on his way out, it was pretty sad to see and the last time I saw them, I always preferred Motorhead in small more personal venues anyway.

2015 Soundwave Festival in Sydney, I don't suppose I was disappointed as I didn't expect much, but Marilyn Manson was an absolute crock of ste, just a mumbling idiot off his nut, the rest of it was superb though musicthumbup

I thought they were fantastic on the Joshua Tree tour at Wembley Stadium. But a major disappointment on the next tour (Zooropa?) which I think was at the same venue. I never saw them again after that.

I saw The Police on their Synchronicity tour which was probably the best concert I've ever been to. I watched some clips of them playing on their reunion tour in 2007 and they seemed a completely different band. All the energy had gone.

Fall Out Boy at Brixton, probably 2006 ish. Not sure why that one was a surprise as they only had one song, but remember that the singer didn't say a word to the crowd during the whole set. Probably the most music-by-numbers gig I've ever wasted time & money on.

Eminem Milton Keynes, June 2003. Not a great fan then, nor now but the wife was a big fan.

He was utterly dire, you got the feeling he was just running through the motions, just not into it at all, even the wife said he was crap, I think it was a time in his personal life when it wasn't all roses, saw him many years later where he headlined Reading, he was head and shoulders better.
Was the the gog where he came in on a fairground big wheel? If so I was there too. We were about 11 miles away from the stage.
Yep that was the one, 50 Cent (support act) was far better.

I saw the Beatiful South at Cardiff many years ago, they looked and played like they didn't want to be there. On the flip side, supporting them was the Bare Naked Ladies, who I had not heard of but were brilliant.

The White Stripes at Ally Pally. Big long build-up to them coming on stage and then a completely forgetable, formulaic performance. Dull.

Kings of Leon for me. Just boring. They wrote good songs and played them very well, but as an "event" it was just dull. If someone's swinging upside down from a helicopter, I'll forgive them for missing a chord change. This was almost by-the-numbers.

Marilyn Manson was odd. They put on a hell of a show, but I think as we were kids (17) at the time who really liked them, I think we were expecting some sort of life-changing event, and what we got instead was (just) was a very good gig.

Massively disappoint is a bit strong, and as much as I love Deftones, they're not great live.

Tempo always seems way to quick, and Chino doesn't seem to have the vocals for live gigs these days. Won't stop be going to see them though.

You need to catch Manson on a good day, seems like most the gigs he does it looks like he doesn't really want to be there.

Thank you for posting this. I had tickets for Jack White a year or so ago and was gutted that I couldn't get to the concert. I can now convince myself that it would have been awful.

Massive KoL fan here, have been since their first album, I've seen them twice; Reading and Hyde Park, totally agree that they don't do much apart from sing and play their instruments, however they do play them bloody well and their performance is perfect, (unlike some live performers), no duff notes etc.

Panic at the Disco was another crap gig, both myself and the wife were pretty big fans, the wife more so, anyway we went to see them somewhere in London, can't remember when but it was a while ago, they were shocking, just out of tune and utter crap. They then disbanded, I think the lead decided he wanted to do his own thing.

The lead singer then reformed the band with new members and they headlined Reading in 2018, generally that year was a pretty dire year for Reading, I wasn't fussed about the festival but was dragged along by the wife, Panic were absolutely amazing, they totally smashed it and were the highlight for both of us.

Saw Queens of the Stone Age a couple of years ago at the 02. Expected them to be amazing, but the place was half empty and it was dull as hell.

Bit obscure but I saw Haken in Manchester somewhere in 2019. Loved the album Affinity and some of their other stuff but it was just so boring live.

Guns N Roses a couple of years back in London. I went as my brother was a fan, I wasn’t. I was hoping I would be won over; I wasn’t. Absolute tripe.

U2 at Wembley - Elbow blew them offstage
Any of the times I’ve seen Black Sabbath. Ozzy really can’t sing in tune or in time
AC/DC at The O2 on the Black Ice tour. The sound of a band going through the motions.
Van Halen in Manchester 1980 ish. Pretty sure they were lip-syncing to backing tracks.
