Steve Lukather (lead guitar in Toto) on "Beat It" played every guitar section apart from the solo.

Stevie Ray Vaughan did all the solo guitar work on Bowie's "Let's Dance".

Rick Wakeman.
On everything!

If he does more "an evening with" type gigs then go along.
Equal parts anecdotage and ivory tinkling.

She was responsible for many of Jackson’s signature high notes in concert. She would sing the same lyrics and they would enhance his voice with hers. Also, when he wasn’t in public he often spoke with an adult voice but used the one we got used to in interviews as part of his act.

The late Big Jim Sullivan is said to have played on hundreds of hit records over the years.

Kenney Jones, surprisingly did a lot of session work.

Jimmy Page is reputed to have played on My Generation. Its also said that he didn't because Townshend refused to let him borrow his 12string.

I think the OP's point of the thread was to identify 'famous' session musicians, IE just the opposite of Carole Kaye, who is a session musician who is unknown to the majority of the general public.

The OP mentions Jimmy Page as an example, obviously massively well-known as the guitarist in Led Zeppelin but less well-known as a mainstay of the London session scene before that.
