Suede - Breakdown

“Does your love only come?
Does he only come in a Volvo?”

The Fratellis - Vince the loveable stoner

“Now Vince was a loner
A lovable stoner (aha)
He lived in a Bluebird
Spelled his name backwards (aha)”

The Fratellis - Baby Fratelli

“I said oh Christ, I told you twice
It's just not easy going through all these things thrice
What's this I once heard, you drive a Bluebird
You got no money for the petrol, that's what I heard”

(Both from the same album, which is odd.)
Odd choice for a drive, never mind live in it!

I'd be amazed if it hasn't already been mentioned (but I'm not reading 12 pages to find out)

Lethal Bizzle - Police on my back:

I used to be a criminal, top car dealer
Bare competition but my cars were realer
But quite frank my cars were professional
Reloads exceptional

Serial change, log book, keys
All you need to worry about were the fees
Well, let's see, you can start from a bag
Depending what car you can pay 20 G's

If you need brand new X5 with keys
If ya need Mercedes Benz with TVs
Look at these Golf, Astras, TTs
Anything you want, yeah we can get these

Best sellers were Puntos
Don't be laughing when I say Puntos
Supplied the whole of Walthamstow with Puntos

'I get off on '57 Chevys' Rock and roll heart by Eric Clapton.

'It's obvious the trouble we're in. When your father pulls up in a Mercedes Benz' No one said it would be easy by Sheryl Crow.

Probably too obvious, but 'Greased Lightening' by John Travolta.

More on long the lines of 'misheard lyrics' but for me anyway:

'Standing on your Mother's Porsche' Summer of '69 Bryan Adams.

'Shagged out Vauxhall Nova on the drive' by Oasis. wink

Can we have?.......

Joni Mitchell Big Yellow Taxi.

The Playmates Beep Beep. Nash Rambler in the American version. Bubble car for the UK.

Elton John Made in England. Mentions Cadillac in the first line but the big reference IMHO is:-
" I was made in England, like a blue Cortina."

Cliff Richard Wnat Car? "My daddy had a '68 Camero."

Let me be the first to post this:

Dave ft Stormzy: More Than One.
Absolutely bloody awful song, but it namechecks Aston Martin in the many brands thrown in the "lyrics" and is filmed at the Aston factory and at Silverstone.

Santan does like his astons. Dont wanna start babbling on to stray away from the topic but the whole of were all alone in this together is unfortunately bloody awful.

Steve Earle,

Sweet Little 66

Now I'm a pretty big man around this town
I got me the hottest little Chevy around
My sweet little '66
She got a yellow front fender and a gray one on the back
But my income tax is comin' and I'm gonna paint her black
Sweet little '66

or Copperhead Road

Now Daddy ran the whiskey in a big block Dodge
Bought it at an auction at the Mason's Lodge
Johnson County Sheriff painted on the side
Just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside
Well him and my uncle tore that engine down
I still remember that rumblin' sound

biggrin

Now she ain't too good on gasoline, she burns a little oil
But she was built by union labor on American soil
Sweet little '66
So when your Subaru is over and your Honda's history
I'll be blastin' down some back road with my baby next to me
In my sweet little 66

Has Mercedes Benz by Janis Joplin not been mentioned ?

All I Wanna Do - Sheryl Crow

The good people of the world
Are washing their cars on their lunch break
Hosing and scrubbing as best they can in skirts in suits

They drive their shiny Datsuns and Buicks
Back to the phone company, the record store too
Well, they're nothing like Billy and me

And rather obscure but Alice's Restaurant Massacree - Arlo Guthrie

We got up there, we found all the garbage in there, and we decided it'd be
A friendly gesture for us to take the garbage down to the city dump. So
We took the half a ton of garbage, put it in the back of a red VW
Microbus, took shovels and rakes and implements of destruction and headed
On toward the city dump.

EDIT

Red Cadillac and a Black Moustache - Warren Smith

Somebody saw you at the break of day
Dining and a-dancing in the cabaret
He was long and tall, he had plenty of cash
He had a red Cadillac and a black mustache
He held your hand and he sang you a song
Who you been loving since I been gone
Who you been loving since I been gone

No vehicle in the lyrics, but in the song's video. Or any excuse to post this up really.

In fact, I never knew this until a few days back.
Watching this video of Travis' first single in 1998, I thought I recognise that place, so I looked up the band history - they didn't seem to know where it was filmed except it was west of London.
Miles out, it's about half hour drive for me here in Oxfordshire - Upper Heyford where the old USAF base was and those bungalows, fire hydrants in the street still look exactly like that today.

Billy Bragg - Sexuality

I look like a Robert de Niro
I drive a Mitsubishi Zero

Ok, not a car but what are you going to do when you’re stuck for a rhyme?
