Rumours of Fleetwood Mac

This might go on a tad.
I'm glad it did - thanks for the excellent post! I agree that ticket prices for big names have got out of control, but with the number of crew and the amount of equipment used by RFM I was left wondering how they make any money with ticket prices at £35. By the time the ticket sellers and the venue have taken their cut, how much is left for the band when playing a venue like the Reading Hexagon with a capacity of 1200 seated? LunarOne said:

By the time the ticket sellers and the venue have taken their cut, how much is left for the band when playing a venue like the Reading Hexagon with a capacity of 1200 seated? I suspect the guitarists own all their own equipment. I gave up trying to count how many different guitars they used during the show, one guy must have had 7 different guitars? The stage hands were kept busy because it was guitar changes on just about every song played.
The real FM would probably struggle to hold the voice notes now, as with so many great groups from the past, youth has left them. So side by side, the performance on Friday night by the cover band may well have now been better, live, than the real thing. However, there was lacking the relationship tension between band members which is integral to the real FM performances. Every song had an under tone personal story to the real band.
The power of the performance of RoFM can’t be downplayed though. It was brilliant, especially in a fairly small stage such as the guild hall.
Worth every penny of the cost.
Hey Dandarez, they was a great read, thanks dude. The video is cracking too.
I bought Rumours when it came out on the strength of the radio playing the singles. It took me ages to appreciate how excellent a player and singer Buckingham is.
Some time ago I saw something about Danny Kirwan and did some research on him. An absolutely amazing playing apparently and his demise was sad reading. I had meant to become familiar with his work but forgot. This thread has now prompted me to do so. Ditto for the Peter Green music era.

Just seen them. Bloody brilliant, what a talented group. Loved the bit after the interval and especially Albatross. Thanks again LunarOne for this thread, I’d never have gone otherwise.
You're welcome! I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself. I did too and I'm definitely going back for more.rjfp1962 said:
I remember a few years ago at my favourite venue The MK Stables, seeing T Rextasy, Hats of to Led Zeppelin and Limehouse Lizzy...
All excellent nights out from what I remember, because the Doom Bar Beer they do there goes down a little too easily too....!
Pleased you like the The Stables and the Doombar beer, my wife’s the bar manager at the venue. All excellent nights out from what I remember, because the Doom Bar Beer they do there goes down a little too easily too....!
Lots of great tribute bands play the venue plus some quality originals such as Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel. Earlier this week The Ultimate Classic Rock show played a truly stunning two and a half hour set, one of the best gigs I’ve seen for many years.

There will always be seats where people don’t turn up, there was a fair amount of moving around at the last time we went.
Seeing another Fleetwood Mac Tribute band later this week https://fleetwoodmachine.co.uk/tablet/index.html

I saw Fleetwood Mac and Fleetwood Bac on the same week. Obviously Mac were good but given they were about 10 times more expensive than Bac and Bac were in a very small venue the experience was much more intense.
Bac are always standing when I have seen them whereas RFM are more of a theatre sit down show I believe.
I saw Fleetwood Bac locally to me and they were great, then again any decent covers band is always good fun. The friend who I went with tried to chat up Chrissie McVie in the bar afterwards which made it all go a bit weird though.Bac are always standing when I have seen them whereas RFM are more of a theatre sit down show I believe.
