Gig Plans - 2022
Discussion
Stick To Your Guns w/ support from Landmarks, Scowl & another band (can't remember their name) at Islington Academy last night. £25 ticket very decent value for three excellent sets.
Not keen on that venue. Despite crowd jumping about it's always bloody freezing cold, and the beer choice was ste - £6.65 for a pint of Carlsberg.
Probably my last gig of 2022 unless something crops up last minute.

second last gig of the year last night- Jamie T at the academy in glasgow. was a very good gig. him and band sounded great, and nice touch getting hugo white (produced his last album, was also in the support band and the maccabees) for the last 2 songs.

Annoying, booked Therapy? for Southend as they're not coming to London next month, and now Dominic Frisby has his gig that same night.
I'm seeing Therapy? in a couple of weeks when they play a venue very local to me. Should be a great night, most decent bands are a 45+ minute car journey away for me as public transport stops too early.- Londonproblems.
Tomorrow I'll be at Symposium's (currently) one-off comeback in Islington, an even longer drive but to see "the best live band in Britain" - and they really were brilliant back in the day - after so long away was unmissable. I might be a bit excited right now.
For those that weren't around, when they appeared on Top of The Pops back in '97 their singer went crowd surfing and they incited a stage invasion!

Yeah I was quite a fan of theirs at the time and lived on the edge of London so caught a few of their gigs. Saw them with Biffy Clyro in summer 2002, long before BC were filling arenas! I have tickets for their tour with Hundred Reasons that's been postponed til next year too.Did you ever catch hell is for heroes ?
I also once saw Ross' band, Paper Cuts. I was a bit less impressed by them...

Saw Samantha Fish in Brighton last Tuesday, first gig I've been to in ages. Good venue, Chalk, just off the seafront near the East pier, and the beer was £5.60 a pint, which was nice.
What could possibly have attracted you to this hot blonde rock guitarist!? Immediately acquainting myself with her back catalogue on Apple Music!
ETA: I see she's playing Shepherd's Bush Empire tonight. If I wasn't already on a three gig week I'd have gone along, I like what I hear .... a kind of Seasick Steve bluesy guitar, but considerably easier on the eye!

Just saw Nightwish & Evanescence last night - very good indeed, though, IMO, Nightwish were better

Nightwish? you mean Within Temptation.Snipped Photos
Saw them both at Brum Tuesday night. Big fan of both bands but hadn't seen Evanescence since about 2005/6. Amy Lee's voice is still top top, and their drummer, Will Hunt can certainly hit. Thought they were great.
WT, as ever were really good although a little disappointed with the sound mix as the guitars weren't nearly as heavy as they should be.
WT finished the show at Brum, I think it was the other way round for London. Interesting to note quite a few left after Ev, not so many that it was noticeable in the hall though.
