Stranglers, Victoria Hall Stoke, Monday evening.
Well, that was very good. So the next one is next Monday at Parr Hall, Warrington, then on to the Manchester Apollo on Friday.Recently heard that Big Country are playing our local Jazz/Blues festival on Easter weekend, so I might go and have a look. Enjoyed their stuff at Reading Festival when I saw them, but a lot has changed since then. I'm also considering Ruts DC in Stoke in November as they've been great supporting The Stranglers on this tour.

Gojira rescheduled to 2023 thanks to sodding covid. Ffs.
Why in God's name? Getting a bit hacked off with this, holiday industry in full flow (if not now then certainly by Spring) and bands cite problems entering and leaving countries?worsy said:
Yes - gutted, as was looking forward to this. Another "due to covid restrictions" victim, it seems. I've heard this is impacting a lot of US bands, for some reason (not sure of their regulations for re-entering the US).Tickets cancelled (for now), and money put towards Wardruna at Manchester Albert Hall in March. Totally different, but really excited about seeing these guys.
Two gigs booked this week: Incendiary at New Cross and Vein.FM w/ Drain (which is the band I want to see) and Higher Power in support at The Underworld, both in late June (£15 & £20 for tickets respectively - benefit of hardcore bands & small venues). .
Bad Religion appears to have been re-scheduled for early June (although I'll believe that when I actually see them).
Just waiting on Snuff to sort their re-re-re-scheduled dates out.

I've been wary of planning anything this year given how many events I booked a year or more ago that still haven't happened yet!
But my mate bought some tickets at a small venue called Norden Farm in Maidenhead and last night we went to see "A Band Called Malice".
It started well when they all came on stage in suits with narrow lapels, skinny ties and bowling shoes, and the whole performance was fantastic.
So that was a great start to the year - maybe I need to get booking!

Watched a very self indulgent set from Damon Albarn last night at The Troxy, seen him many times in just about all his various bands and guises over the last 30 years but this one missed the mark by a long way...not sure the venue helped though.
Only got the following booked for the rest of the year:
Kraftwerk: Bonn (rescheduled 3 times so far)
The Cure: Birmingham and Cologne
After the forced 18 month break from gigs I'm really struggling with my motivation to get out gigging again, a real shame after 40 years watching live music.
