We love Trance music

Has a bit of Josh Winx about it, as did many tunes of that era. Before my time so sadly I have little apprecation for it
Higher state of Consciousness by Josh Wink - original release in 1995, I remember it in clubs in 1994, and became insanely popular, resurrecting what was already an "old school" acid (roland sampler) sound , I was hesitant in calling Higher State a trance track as it was so obviously influenced by earlier acid, and also had a different time signature. That Hardfloor record came out in 1992 so again was likely to be played in clubs long before by DJs, so who was influencing who?Love that sound though - some of the hard acid techno/trance of the early to mid 90s was absolutely mesmerising. And as i noted earlier on in this thread, was a long way away from the melodic, superclub vocal trance that Trance morphed into came later and around the 2000s. Which I was less keen on, but obviously coincided with a lot of people's clubbing experiences as I was drifting off to drink more ale and listen to rock bands.
Love this thread though - it's made me spend a few hours listening and reminiscing, and building up a cracking driving/summer holiday playlist!
More 2000s brilliance - Super 8 & Tab have a formidable catalogue, especially back as individual artists.
Edit: honestly, loving the variety and differing boundaries on ‘trance’. It’s becomes so broad over 30 years. First ‘trance’ track I ever heard was Cafe del Mar, on a tape of Ibiza mixes in the mid 90s, and it absolutely blew me away. Here I am still listening now.

I don't think you can afford to be fundamental on this.But...... lots of melodic house on this thread and separately lots of Trance.

I started playing "rave" back in the very early 90s, there weren't really genres per se. I was playing stuff that would later be considered soulful US house, ambient, UK garage, house, electro, breaks, D'n'B, Techno, hardcore, trance etc...
In fact, back then I had vinyl with "trance mix", and it was more like moby - go, or FSOL - paua new Guinea in vibe.
Age of love was my line in the sand for trance, and with regards to a blueprint, for what was to come later, this is ground zero.
I believe it's what age you are, a lot of people regard the hi-nrg psychedelic stuff e.g, infected mushroom gear as trance. That's OK, that's where they joined. It's also where I dipped out, I devoured a lot of harthouse, rising high to that point. Its also why I initially viewed this thread with suspicion, that fast acid stuff does nothing for me, once I saw there were overlaps with my taste I thought I'd fire a few up.
Despite this, I did deliberate on what to post, I have initially purposely avoided the "Balearic" and "progressive" vibe from the early-to-mid 90s.
That said, I don't give a fk what you think about this

Oakenfold 1999, still frequently played, absolutely love it.
Epic set, I remember at the time it was something special and still does the job 20 years later. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a35iQkCe0hI

A couple of faves.
This guy on YouTube has got some decent sets and albums back from early 2000’s

Listening to stuff on there reminded me that I had the tranceformer album, I had totally forgotten about it.

Are you buying vinyl up? I have all these on 12" but I would never sell any of them!
Sadly for my wallet, yes. All the records I sold back in the day for £5-£8 I'm now buying back for £10+. Lustral was just short of thirty quid! I should never ever have sold my records but I didn't listen! This was after me saying that I'll buy hard house and hard house only, to keep costs down. Then I bought one trance record for old times sake and now I find myself trying to get the records back I sold 20 years ago
Ouch! Back in the day I sold various sets of decks and setups but I've never sold a record. I've even got a pile of duplicates and "ste" that I still havent sold. A long time ago my best mate passed away and I inherited his collection so his and my collections are intermingled so another reason I could never let any of them go!

Ouch indeed. When I lost interest back in the day every man and his dog said "just sell your decks, but never sell your records" but I ignored them all. Here's one which probably borders on the definition of trance. I had never heard it until a couple of years ago!
Here's one which motors along very nicely. This fellow and the label put out some good tracks
..and another track - this one a collaboration with Solar Stone:
Three Drives has pumped out some hits. Here's one of their lesser known tracks:
