Car Seats in a 996 911
Discussion
I’m looking to buy a 996 911, but I want the family to enjoy the fun.
We’ve got a 6 and 8 year old ….
What car seats do you folks use ? I know it isn’t isofix, but they will need something…
I’ve found lots of old threads dotted around the internet that list seats that I can’t buy anymore - so appreciate any current info please folks.

If you just want a booster, I used this, fits perfectly, so anything with similar dimensions will do.

Before my youngest got too tall for the high sided booster to fit we used an early recaro Monza, which also fitted well.

I had this exact scenario, a 996 coupe and a 5 and an 8 year old. They would both fit in the back but if it was just me and the boys I'd have my 8 year old in a full car seat in the front (slid right back) and my 5 year old on a standard booster seat in the back behind the passenger seat, most will fit easily enough. Depending on how tall you are you might find though that with two adults in the front it may be a squeeze to have both kids in the back on boosters. Ironically it's actually easier space wise when they're tall enough to go in the back without a booster. We’ve got a 6 and 8 year old ….

My kids were 6 and 8 when I got my 996. Neither of them could fit with high backed boosters. Fortunately we had the ones where the base could be detached so they just sat on the bases. This put the seatbelt in a safe position on their chests due to the shallow depth of the back seats and the upright backs.
Although there are a lot of laws, rules and regulations around child seats I think you have to use your own judgement, based on the child's height, weight and the type of car.

I have two of these boosters (from Halfords) in the back of the 996 turbo coupe and they're perfect.
I have these and they do the job perfectly. The rear seats of a 911 are great for kids of this age and clearly the dimensions are much smaller than most. Naturally for some people the only way to transport children is in an X7 with bulletproof glass, but I’m assuming that you won’t be taking every corner on the edge of your tyres so it should be fine!
I use these:

As said elsewhere, the catch with a 996 is that some of the boosters are too wide to fit into the seat recess. The above is very compact, and has clips to keep the belt in a safe place (including pulling it down across the chest and away from the neck. Its the latter that's useful, its not like kids actually need to be higher up in the seat - it's small enough already!
