Sadly Fred Ward of Tremors fame passed away recently. He was really good in that film and came across great on screen yet he didn’t seem to get any more big roles (at least that I can recall). Similarly there is Michael Biehn of Terminator and Aliens fame who doesn’t seem to have found any other big roles outside of James Cameron films, even though I thought he was great in those films.

Presumably being in the right place at the right time (or maybe having the right agent) is what counts ultimately. Or maybe there is a large slice of luck too.

Any others actors that you think should have gone onto leading roles and a big career but didn’t?

I didn't know that Fred Ward had passed. Tremors is one of my favourite monster films. I didn't realise there was such an age gap between him and Kevin Bacon.

How about Brooke Adams? She was in the 1978 Invasion of the Body Snatchers and later The Dead Zone. I saw a film discussion on YT and they mentioned her and wondered why she never "made it big."

My Dad told me that back in the 60's/70's it was known that Elizabeth Montgomery (Samantha in Bewitched) always wanted to make it as a big Hollywood actress, but it never happened.

Sometimes big TV stars don't make it in films. I suppose some TV stars are "bigger" than some film stars though.

Mark Hamill. Big in Star Wars and basically nothing big came from it. Harrison Ford got all the glory roles.

Well MH famously avoided it all after the accident.

I nominate Diane Lane.

MH did have a decent career doing voice overs.

Nicolas cage.

Won an Oscar and loads of big films, but...

Lost now which I think is purely down to bad management.

Clive Owen.

He would have made a good Bond.

You presumably know he auditioned for Bond, so evidently not everyone shares your opinion. smile

george peppard, not sure if he turned down roles he shouldn't have, or was " difficult" on set.

anthony perkins, Psycho probably ruined his career.

sarah miles, don't know what happened to her, could be Ryan's Daughter blighted her career although
she's the best thing in it.

Keir Dulleau - could be simply his name.

He has cornered the market in being killed in episode one, though.

What do they know? Pah!

I didn't know. There's a story there.

I'm afraid I can't do that, Keir.

I remember a Wigan interview he did.
He came over as being on his high horse and slated a fellow actor on the A Team.

Many years later. Justin something or other did a “bring back the A team”. Special.

Actor after actor hinted that George was not the easiest to work with and that the draw for the show was not him. But a good wearing bloke who was not classically trained. (That apparently grounded George’s gears)

Roger More used a double for his running shots because he was all elbows. "Runs like a girl", apparently.

No but, "Have you seen him run?" is enough to put me off investigating.

The actor who played Peter Guillam in the BBC adaptation of Tinker Tailor nearly ruined the whole thing or me because he couldn't run. Shades of Phoebe Buffay.
