The music of my generation. From Speak and Spell to the modern stuff. It’s quite a shock. So many tunes…RIP

Always thought Dave would go first and early given his past heroin addictions
This to be honest.

Shocked and saddened. As many have said here and elsewhere; music of my generation, there was a quirky b-side to one of their early singles I used to put on the jukebox in the student union bar - friends said they knew I was there if it was playing as no one else selected it!

Only managed to see them once.

Personal Jesus one of my absolute favourites by anyone ever.

Was playing some DSD DM tracks yesterday evening, finished that, went into the kitchen turned on Radio R4.

Hearing JCGE, I was thinking mmm... something's up, followed by snippets of ETS and PJ, yup someone's died then.

Must be Dave? ( again ). Fletch? Whoa, what? That can't be right. :-(

Very sad to hear of Fletchs passing. Depeche mode are a huge band to me although imo they were never the same once Alan Wilder left, maybe he can rejoin for a one off concert to celebrate the life of Andy.

frown RIP

DM did evolve again and again, after he left though, so it wasn't all bad.
I'd rather Anton did a documentary on him instead of a concert.

When Dave ( and to a lesser degree Martin ) goes, Basildon will have their own version of a state funeral. They'll have to factor in a stop at Adrian's in Wickford.

In the early days (with Vince Clark) they used to carry their synths on the Tube to gigs. RIP Andy

Absolutely shocked Depeche Mode were the first band I really got into and are still my favourite band to this day. They are also the band I have seen the most times live, including winning a competition to see them play Dream On for CD:UK.

I got into them while I was at sixth form, Violator, Black Celebration, Music for the Masses, 101 and The Singles 81-85 were on constant rotation in my Walkman. Since then I bought ever CD on the day it came out and they didn't leave the CD player in the car for weeks.

Still cannot believe it.

Fairly sure it was this:

Any Second Now - b-side to Just Can't Get Enough

and thank you chaps for inspring me to check on the tracks to remind myself - happy memories even if triggered by less welcome news. beer

I'm sure I heard they also carried their synths on the tube to Top of the Pops!

I was away on Thursday night when I heard the news.

Once home last night we spent the evening listening/watching DM and it really sank in.

Such a shame and so young. I always loved interviews with Andy, he had a great sense of humour.

I grew up listening to DM from the beginning and first saw them in 86. The highlight for me was taking my two children to see them twice in 2017.

I was really hoping their might be another album but that’s it now.

RIP Fletch
