I have a Roland TD-27KV2... which really describes the computer module (brain). Different modules may also come with the same fancy snare, hihats and ride - "fancy" as it they each have multiple areas that you can hit for different sounds.

The mesh heads are really good and can be tightened to your comfort - I like my snare really tight, like a kitchen work surface.

I also have a massive acoustic set and even though I live remotely where I would not disturb my neighbours, I prefer the electronic kit at home. The acoustic kit can be overbearing.

I have added an additional tomtom and crash cymbal which has maxed-out the inputs on the module.

I also bought an additional rack from someone on eBay who had purchased the exact same Roland kit but intended to supplement his acoustic kit with the electronic pads. This additional rack allowed me to expand my kit outwards a bit. I found the original pieces a little too crowded.

I have played through the crappy Simmons kits of the 1980s and even had the Octapad Pad 80 supplementing my acoustic kit back then but I grew tired of the hard surfaces of those electronic pads and thought I'd never go back to e-drums again but this new breed of e-drums are amazing.

A good set of headphones is worth considering too. And nylon tipped sticks on mesh heads (apparently, as wooden sticks deteriorate, they "pick" at mesh heads, shortening their life).
