Gig plans - 2023
Discussion
looking to book Little Dragon at Royal Albert Hall in November.
quite a quirky Scandi Electronic Pop band. Saw them live at a festival a few years ago and have mates who are big fans so going along for the craic.
Name is based on the nickname for the Asian lead singer who apparently has a right temper on her!
also looking to book a couple of the proms at RAH when they are available at the weekend; John Hopkins being the main one. He ranges from classical to thumping techno and is pretty unique as a live show; never done the Proms so keen to give it a try for something up my street.

Hacienda Classical
WTF? Happy Mondays, New Order etc put to classical music??What does anyone think they're gaining from such an experience?
We went to the first Hacienda Classics at Kew a few years ago, pre-pandemic. It was bloody great, for all the reasons you describe.
Rowetta was doing backing vocals and by chance was staying in the local Premier Inn where we were, cue her and Mrs Pt having a drunken hug-like-we-are-best-mates chat in the bar there later on, where both were somewhat 'refreshed'!!
Enjoy it WB, wish I was going again but we are all fully spent up on festivals and gigs for this summer - Glasto, Latitude and End of The Road for two adults and an 8yo all comes in at a fair old price these days!

I did it at RAH last year and ended up in a box for 8 with just 2 of us getting absolutely smashed and having a right laugh. We went to the first Hacienda Classics at Kew a few years ago, pre-pandemic. It was bloody great, for all the reasons you describe.

I did consider Latitude but after getting washed out at a UK festival last year i'm doing North Sea Jazz which is predominantly indoors and Defected in 35c Croatia!
Springsteen doing what he does best, at an intimate gathering of 37,000 at the UArena in Paris tonight. Incredible energy from a man and band hardly in the first flush of youth, hardly pausing in a 2.45 hour performance. Amazing really. Looking forward to seeing him again in Edinburgh in a couple of weeks.

I really like Little Dragon, should be a good gig. quite a quirky Scandi Electronic Pop band. Saw them live at a festival a few years ago and have mates who are big fans so going along for the craic.

I’ve got Ocean Colour Scene in December.
Most other gigs I wanted to see either I wasn’t quick enough or clash with other plans
Would have loved to see Blur, Suede and Dadi Freyer

I'm 59, live in south Manchester/Cheshire and spent every Saturday night for about 4 years in the Hacienda. I can't imagine anything worse than seeing poorly rendered orchestral versions of old Hacienda classics. Nostalgia's great, but some people are a little too desperate. See also 'classic Ibiza' at the Arena. Embarrassing.
Agreed, I went to the Glasgow one last year and it was pretty meh. See also reunion type events at 90s rave clubs or even worse old school branded events at new clubs with no connection whatsoever, I can't bring myself to get involved. Leave the past where it is.Pet Shop Boys for me in Aberdeen next month. My third ever actual gig at the age of 45. I hate live music as a rule.

The Who were one band I never got around to seeing over the years so just managed to book for the Eden sessions on the 25th July.
Saw them at Wembley Arena in 2016 or 17, they were brilliant. Still pondering whether to get tix to St Helens later this year with the full orchestra, but we've had an expensive few months unfortunately. They knocked 20% off the prices a few weeks ago though. macp said:
