Those going to see The Prodigy needn't worry, the show is almost primordial in its intensity and exciting. I won't post any spoilers. Mike - get standing tickets if it's not too late!

I'd go again if I could.
Had standing when i went previously, but non were available when I bought this time. I bought tickets on the day of release.
However seats were 3 rows back from the standing area so had a great view.
Atmosphere was brilliant and everyone was stood in the seating area anyway.

Though it was a great gig, and loved the laser tribute to Keith.
However I don't think it was quite as good as when Keith was on stage bouncing around.

I was there too. Stood fairly central but towards the back.

Very good; although as mentioned it is a little odd without Keith; Maxim did do a really good job but I think at times he missed having somebody to 'work' with.

Other than stage presence I was surprised how little Keith's absence affected the show. But yes, he was definitely missed. The Firestarter homage was a nice touch.

The Prodigy last night at the AO Arena Manchester. They came on a bit late but when they opened with Breathe the crowd erupted. Standing area was a 2000 people mosh pit. Sadly I was up in tier 1 and couldn't join in the energetic fun. Amazing gig.
I was one of the many raving around like a loon on Friday in the standing section, smack bang in the middle. It's the 5th time I've seen them over the years and it may be the best one I have been to. I went last year when they returned to touring for the 1st time without Keith Flint, it was different I think but just as much energy and the tribute when Firestarter is played is a great addition.

If you enjoyed them when Keith was still around you will still enjoy them now. The crowd is a huge part of the show too, so many different age ranges from different back grounds. You really do meet some great people. I don't think there are many bands, if any who do it better live.

Going tonight. A band I was never really into in a room I don't particularly like. Hoping to have my preconceptions challenged on the first part at least. Nothing will ever make me like the Brighton centre.

Part of me wishes I'd have gone to one of the Prodigy shows, but being honest I think I feel too old (47!). I'd want to sit down and not sure it's a sitting down gig!

I saw them twice in 1994. Once in Manchester, then they were so good we went to Cambridge a few days later. Keith threw his water bottle in to the crowd and I caught it! Kept it in my Cavalier for weeks until my Dad cleaned the car out banghead I got the spider logo tattooed on my arm a few weeks later too. Also seen them at a few different festivals.

toying with getting last minute tickets for Prodigy Thursday night in Birmingham.

cant do Friday or Saturday at Ally Pally as have other stuff booked. A bit of a shame as that is an ideal Prodigy venue.

in a completely different style going to see Little Dragon at Royal Albert Hall tomorrow night and went to see Madison McFerrin at Jazz Cafe last Sunday. She is the daughter of Bobby McFerrin (don't worry, be happy) and was very good as well as being incredibly pleasant to look at cloud9

Saw Scary Pockets at the Troxy on Friday - a great fun evening at a venue I'd never been to before. Great gig and a really nice venue too.

First two gigs of next year booked - Postmodern Jukebox at the Palladium on the first Sunday in May, followed by Elbow at the O2 on the Thursday.

snagged a couple of tickets for Prodigy in Brum tonight off Twickets for less than face value.

Little Dragon were very good last night..... genre? Scandi Electro pop funk is the best we could come up with. Catchy but not heavy; put on a good performance.

Nice, enjoy it mate, I'm looking forward to it - and the inevitable man-flu for the few days afterwards, I think I was immune in my early 20's, but a decade on I don't seem as resilient to a night of sweaty moshing laugh

Well The Prodigy were as good as expected biggrin

Absolute chaos in the standing near the front, bit battered and bruised this morning but a hell of a night. It's a shame to not have Keith because I do think you lose some of that interaction between band and crowd, although Maxim does a great job on his own.. But the music carries itself and everyone seemed to have a great time anyway biggrin

Been to a couple of gigs recently.

First up was Big Country in my local venue, which they often play and it seemed silly not to go and see them eventually.

Nicely energetic performance, but the sound balance wasn't great and, as a result, a lot of the songs sounded very similar.

The big hits were recognisable, but overall only a 6/10 - Worth the time, but not a stand out gig for me.

Second one was A Certain Ratio at the Face bar in Reading.

I really went to see them because I thought they were the originators of 'Shack Up' a song I'd had on a 12" for decades (heard it on John Peel) by Thirteen At Midnight. Turns out they weren't the first to do it, but no matter!

Anyway, they were absolutely brilliant - Playing a couple of sets, in chronological order with the 'best' tracks of most of their albums.

Started off sounds very like Joy Division (They were Factory stablemates, of course) and then a bit New Orderey and then Latin and then Pop and then Jazz, a very musically talented band that have lost none of their flexibility, the way the band switched instruments was eye-opening and it was great to hear some live brass these days.

Their sound balance was excellent, too, something far too many bands just don't seem to be able to do live, but still with an exciting 'live' sound (rather than the flat 'as recorded' sound some bands deliver live).

I've got a pile of CDs by them on my desk now, having bought nearly all their albums over the last few days and they're still trotting out great albums (1982 was released this March and is excellent).

Definitely a band to catch and one I'll go and see again!

Xandria at the Dome in NW5 last night. Was a bit dubious about this one beforehand, thinking it might turn out to be not that good given the size of the venue (there were probably no more than 500 people there) and I wondered if the new lead singer was going to be as good as previous ones, not having heard much of her.

I needn't have worried, it was absolutely superb and she has an amazing voice. Really enjoyed the acoustic version of Ravenheart and all their classics that followed. Good atmosphere too.

that was good fun, but agree that something obviously lacking without Keith. Won't see them again but had a good night and can tick that box off.

we stayed about a third of the way back as really didn't fancy the mosh and have done that before!

Id love to see Little Dragon.

We were at Bears Den at the Union Chapel on Sunday.

its not my kind of music but I really enjoyed the atmosphere in the venue and would definitely look out for more gigs there in future.

Next gig is Ocean Colour Scene in a few weeks time, and then picked up the last of the Feeder tickets for March

LG were very good; but not the sort of band to blow your mind.

Union Chapel is a lovely venue; I've seen allsorts there; they have a good selection of acts on and do some good comedy nights too

Before it started I told myself I'd stay to the side and have a 'relaxed' one, then first song in....

hahahahaha...

we arrived to hear Soft Play going full on and felt we didn't need the full experience. I'm nearly 56 and my mosh days are probably best confined to history.

this week revolves around 2 completely contrasting gigs...

first up is Yazmin Lacey at Ronnie Scott's. She is an amazing English soul singer/songwriter who's debut album is utterly brilliant. Also have tix for her at Village Underground on Friday but couldn't resist seeing her at Ronnie's when they added that date.

then, off to Manchester for the Hacienda night at the Warehouse Project. Just the 10,000 aged ravers reliving their misspent youth. Mega line up of live and DJ acts.

Watched Pete Tong doing Ibiza classics with an orchestra in Manchester last weekend.
Seen it before and this time had seats very close to the stage.
However didn't enjoy it as much. Guest singers didn't have great vocals except the Swedish House mafia singer at the end.
They have added a few new songs that for me aren't really ibiza inspired, more cheesy nightclub so doesn't have the seem feel.
It was OK but won't be in a rush to see it again.
