I'm 61 years old and I've had Wet Leg's self-titled debut CD since the end of last year... Can't remember any album I've repeat-played more than this...!
Not sure what else has come out of the Isle of Wight, but Wet Leg has to be one of it's best.....! Like most subjects, music will divide opinions. but I love this band smile

Hate to be a party pooper but they come on our choice of radio station all the time and we turn it off whenever they do, totally mediocre in my view.

Average base lines
Awful lyrics

Mommy, daddy, look at me
I went to school and I got a degree
All my friends call it "the big D"
I went to school and I got the big D
I got the big D
I got the big D
I got the big D
I went to school and I got the big D
Is your muffin buttered?
Would you like us to assign someone to butter your muffin?
Excuse me (what?)
Excuse me (what?)
Hey you, over there
On the chaise longue in your underwear
What are you doing sitting down?
You should be horizontal now
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
Is your mother worried?
Would you like us to assign someone to worry your mother?
Excuse me (what?)
Excuse me (what?)
Hey you, in the front row
Are you coming backstage after the show?
Because I've got a chaise longue in my dressing room
And a pack of warm beer that we can consume
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
All day long, all day long, on the chaise longue
All day long, all day long, on the chaise longue
All day long, all day long, on the chaise longue
On the chaise longue, all day long, on the chaise longue

Bass, not base.

Butter your muffin is a reference to Mean Girls. The song you pick on is filled with knowing nods to pop culture & innuendo. 'You should be horizontal now' is a reference to sex. As is the song title. It's ok to not know stuff but on the other hand, those two girls are smarter & more deserving of their success than you realise if for no other reason, there is much more in those lyrics you see as mediocre than you've grasped.

I heard, I think, Ur Mum at the beginning of the year and wow! Ordered the CD from Amazon straight away, as you can also download it.

I'm a fan too.

Saw them at a CD release mini-gig in Kingston upon Thames when it came out and they were very good live.

Look up 'Wet Leg before they were famous' on You Tube and see there's a lot more to them than just the hits, enjoyable though they are (Ur Mum is a favourite of mine, too).

They seem, surprisingly, to span the age groups too as they're getting awards, but appeal to people my, and the OP's, age too.

In contrast, I saw Coach Party supporting The Amazons and they seemed a very second rate Wet Leg tribute band.

"Before they were famous" was very interesting and it looks like between Rhian and Hester, there should be much more to come on the second album. Rhian's voice is so strong, operatic even where she performs with a string section including double bass on the YT video.
I also read somewhere else that Rhian had quite a following in Bristol performing live before she and Hester met up.
I think the girls are of natural talent and are both clearly enjoying themselves in what they are doing.
Wet Leg do appeal to a wide age group.., especially in reviews of their debut album I've read.
GO GIRLS biggrin

They’re great - I really love daisy and have to force myself not to play it too much. And great lyrics too:

You don't wanna see me bratty
Pet the kitty, call me catty
Make your man call me Daddy
He talk too much, he's too chatty
CEO, I'm savvy (I'm savvy)
Respect a bh, I'm a maverick
Flexible, so elastic
But don't you dare bend a bh backwards
fk a princess, I'm a king
Bow down and kiss on my ring
Being a bh is my kink
What the fk else did you think?
fk a princess, I'm a king
Bow down and kiss on my ring
It's gonna hurt, it'll sting
Spitting your blood in the sink
I'm crazy, but you like that, I bite back
Daisies on your nightstand, never forget
I blossom in the moonlight, screw eyes
Glacial with the blue ice, I'm terrifying
I'm no Cinderella, but I like the shoes
Big glass platforms, bh, I'm choosy
Long blue hair, blue as a bruise
Only trust a fella for some light amusement
I'm no prey, but I am pursued
Pray for me, Nana, on the church's pews
No dickstraction can confuse me
Whiskey in my hip flask, nothing fruity
fk a princess, I'm a king
Bow down and kiss on my ring
Being a bh is my kink
What the fk else did you think?
fk a princess, I'm a king
Bow down and kiss on my ring
It's gonna hurt, it'll sting
Spitting up blood in the sink
I'm crazy, but you like that, I bite back
Daisies on your nightstand, never forget
I blossom in the moonlight, screw eyes
Glacial with the blue ice, I'm terrifying
I'm crazy, but you like that, I bite back
Daisies on your nightstand, never forget
I blossom in the moonlight, screw eyes
Glacial with the blue ice, I'm terrifying
La, la, la
La, la, la
La, la, la
La, la, la
La, la, la
La, la, la
La, la, la
La, la, la
I'm terrifying

Just one review. Yes I know it's a good one, but as a fan I could find a negative one...!
