I've now got the long haired boss onboard.

So a large family car, thats happy pulling a horse trailer with 2 small pony's in. Lets say 800kg of horse, 850kg of trailer.

if possible 7 seats, not a deal breaker.

Reliable.

v8 land cruiser has been top of my list, finding a good one at a sensible price feels difficult.

Ideally under £35k. whats the options?

ML350, or Disco 4/5 if you don't mind a slush fund.

Failing that Ford Transit/Transporter/i800

If the horse activities include driving across muddy fields with a laden trailer, then I'd think twice about a newer 'fashion' SUV with 20" skinny tyres. Sopping wet / 'soiled' equine accoutrements don't really suit them, either!

We've got a much humbler 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0CRD for such duties. With decent tyres, Quadra-Drive II transmission and the old Mercedes OM642 engine, it'll tow any trailer virtually anywhere. Only five seats, though...

It won't, however, impress the yummy mummies at the local gymkhanarolleyes

the one at paddock club has a deposit on it, otherwise I think that would have been the car.

Being a bit sensible, went for this, picked it up also today.

its got a fairly comprehensive 3 year warranty with it also.

I would like a 4.2 cayenne as a motorway car though, possibly when the electric company car goes back.

Less than 24 hours in and its thrown up its first fault on the dash.........

water in fuel filter.......... I don't have the time to drive it 1.5 hours back to the dealer, is it harsh to get them to come and sort it? it pretty much says you shouldn't really drive it with the fault code showing.

Great start to JLR product owning biggrin

biglaugh get it to your nearest specialist, the dealer will probably pay for it but obviously speak to them first.

yeah, its one of those things, just means i'm back looking for a landcruiser v8 smile

I've rang the supplying dealer, they've asked me to call back tomorrow am so they can work it out. I could take it there for them to sort but I haven't got a day spare.
