... Academy in Bournemouth,,,,although a crap pint of over chilled IPA for £8 wasn't a nice surprise
All O2 places are like that; stupid money for piss poor beer. The ones in Liverpool and Manchester are just the same.

A friend of mine is involved in band management and merchandising. He avoids using Academy Music Group venues if he can. For one thing, they demand a 25% cut of the merchandise takings even when there is no involvement of their staff in managing the stand. Acts are forced to increase the price of the t-shirts at those venues just to cover their costs. £8 pints are taking the mick.

On gig booking front, for something a bit different, I'm in for Northern Soul Orchestrated at The Royal Festival Hall in April. Similar to the event that took place as part of last year's BBC Proms.

A couple of local ones are also booked: Willie J Healey and Pip Blom - both at the Tunbridge Wells Forum in May.

last night at Jazz Cafe was Girls Of The Internet...... usually a DJ/producer and this was their first proper live gig.

very well executed and with 3 vocalists and a couple of musicians it added to the soulful house vibe; nice and cheap at £15 per person with a very good DJ warming up for them

Love that room. You made me think of the last time I was in there. In my head it was a couple of years ago but actually 2016 to see Corduroy. cry

Went to see Jayler last night at their home venue in Tamworth, absolutely brilliant 2 and a half hour set! A mixture of their own, Zep, Hendrix and Kinks. Would be the best £10 gig I’ve ever been too if I’d paid to get in!

Just bought 2 tickets to see Another Sky in Leeds in September at Brudenell. Not got travel, hotel or a gig partner lined up yet but I have time.

L7 @ Camden Electric Ballroom, 16 June - 30+ years since I've seen them play, fingers crossed for Shove. £36.75 inc. £1.00 booking fee.

I was hoping to see the original Slipknot singer touring with a support band performing their demo album, hes toured US and Aus/NZ doing it. However his support band just leaked a re-recording of the Slipknot demo album that he had been working on so he has cancelled the European tour now, gutted really was looking forward to this, suppose I'll have to go to one of the Slipknot 25th anniversary shows now.

Simple Minds last Saturday. A spirited performance, lots of audience participation during the classics which I'd rather not hear. Shame.

I enjoyed The Stranglers last Friday at Manchester. Two sets, first with a few songs they haven't played for a long time, then off for a bit and back on for another set.

June 1 Eagles/Steely Dan
June 8 Scorpions/Extreme
July 6 Heart
July 12 BST Stevie Nicks
Aug 3 Adele
Aug 7-12 Sziget, Budapest
Oct 20 Alice Cooper

Probably my most expensive gig going year ever. I do miss the days of £3 tickets for the front stalls at the Bham Odeon.

Bloody hell. I had no idea they were still going. I listened to them to death in the early 90s. 'Extreme II: Prawnograffitti' was a brilliant album IMHO.

Scorpions also a soundtrack to my youth - I was living as a student in the USSR just after Winds of Change came out, every taxi driver in Moscow seemed to be playing it every day.

Wow, that's some memories flooding back. I shall look up this gig, I'm tempted to try for a ticket...

Have you listened to the Wind Of Change podcast? I'm not a Scorpions fan, but the 'cast's superb & one of the best I've listened to.

Saw Tony Hadley on Sunday Night.

He was like a tall Ray Quinn. All big band stuff with a few Spandau Ballet hits thrown in. But given a big band feel.

His voice is very strong, and the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall has great Acoustics.

Wife's choice. Its not music that's really to my taste, but you could hear quality in the sound.
I almost starting tapping my feet at one point.
