I see Israel Nash is playing at the deaf institute in Manchester on 29th January.
I discovered him last year and saw him in Uppsala,Sweden in August,a brilliant gig.
Thoroughly recommend going along (I can’t make it alas),I'd have a listen to his LPs rain plans and Topaz to see if he grabs you.

I had a long break until a few years ago, but I usually go and see 6-12 gigs a year these days.

Like you, I go and see a lot of acts from the period when I was into 'contemporary' music in a big way, but go and see a few recent/current bands each year too, usually up and coming ones playing local venues.

I've seen ABC and Sheryl Crow in recent years and enjoyed them both, but sadly, like a lot of the older acts, they increasingly seem to want to play all seated venues and I'm not old enough to sit still for a whole gig yet! biggrin

The gig diary for the year is building now after a successful xmas!

The Hives - Glasgow Barrowlands
Smashing Pumpkins/Weezer Glasgow Hydro
The Manics/Suede - Edinburgh Castle
Green Day/Nothing But Thieves - Bellahouston Park, Glasgow

Really wanted to see the Foo Fighters but missed out on tickets and the resale prices are silly, and that's me looking across pretty much every venue in Europe that they're scheduled to play. Plan is to look each day the week before the uk dates in the hope there's some desperate to sell and prices come down.

You’re not travelling far, eh? (I’m originally from Bormuff. wink )

In Luxembourg unless noted otherwise….
March: Editors, Pretenders, Dépêche Mode
May: Tenacious D
June: Foos (London Stadium - shame as last experience there wasn’t brilliant)
July: Calvin Harris
August: Pixies

H2O, that was postponed from last year now 24 May @ Underworld in Camden - also seeing them 48hrs later at Slamdunk North, fortunately their one of my favourite bands.

Last time I saw the same band twice over a weekend at separate venus was Soundgarden on their Superunknown tour in '94: won tickets to a small fan show & had already got tickets to the main London gig.

Just one so far, Warrington Runcorn New Town Development Plan in Bethnal Green in Apr. Venue looks good and the 2 gigs of his I've seen so far this year have been excellent.
Just booked Alessandro Cortini at the Barbican, always love that venue too.

Got a ticket for the Pretenders at the London Palladium on 28 February. smile

Interesting what someone said above about the Foos at the London Stadium as I saw them there in 2018. It's a b*gger of a place to get to from the West of London - I won't be going there again!

I saw them at the back end of last year, and was impressed, so I'm off again.
