Some amazing suggestions so far. Had a great couple of hours looking through them.

My personal favourite performance of one of my favourite songs -

REM - Nightswimming

https://youtu.be/KVT0S0j7F9Y?si=gOyzafEwrDulo6mi

and also London Grammar - Strong

Great thread! I'll go back and listen to most of them when next working.

One I keep listening to is this. Bridget Kelly (filling in for Alicia) does a pretty amazing job too.

JAY-Z - Empire State of Mind

The great thing about Jools Hollands shows is the good stuff from genres/artists you wouldnt normally appreciate. As mentioned earlier that Glen Campbell performance is mind blowing too
I find that it doesn't necessarily expand my range of genres but does it does introduce me to new artists in genres that I like that I'd otherwise not come across and/or notice.

The Big Moon, Celsete and Michael Kiwanuka spring to mind. Saw then on Jools first, went on to listen to them loads.

Not remotely my preferred genre, but I still maintain this Mary J Blige performance is one of the greatest ever captured on tape:

Even her own backing singers at the end are like, "WTF just happened?" eek
What a performance!

Great thread, I now have a dozen Youtube Tabs open. See someone got in with the KT Tunstall one early.... but but Ed Sheeran invented looping? That was an epic performance.
Assume you were being sarcastic there .. I think when KT did that live looping performance that Ed was probably still a toddler !

It's still the best live example of the craft !

Whenever a conversation turns to musical ability then this is what I point people to. I cannot remember off the top of my head how many loops/tracks she lays down in 3.5 mins while performing the song perfectly but it is well over 20 !

That’s astonishing - never seen that performance before.

Saw INXS live a few times back in the day. Possibly the best ‘live sound’ I’ve ever heard at a gig.

He was on a different level as a performer.
