Beyond the Lighted Stage is also a very good Rush doc. I've been waiting for La Cinema Strangiato to appear on the streaming platforms. I saw it at the cinema and the version of Losing It gave me goosebumps.

'Gimme Danger' about The Stooges was really good.

Really enjoyed 'Eric Clapton: Life in 12 bars'.

A bit left field but the Bros one is essential viewing too, if perhaps not for the reasons you may think (was it called After The Screaming Stops?).

On a similar theme the Mettalica one Some Kind Of Monster is funny too-even if they didn't intend it to be!

Supersonic, about Oasis, is one of the best music documentaries that I’ve seen. Even if you don’t particularly like them.

I also like the Shane Meadows’ Stone Roses doc.

Has anyone watched the Madness doco? They put the first episode on YouTube and it was one of the best things I’ve watched.

Only problem was a streaming service I didn’t have bought the rights so I’ve never seen any more.

I can second the Laurel Canyon and the Mussel Shoals documentaries if that's your sort of thing. Amazing how many have used Mussel Shoals over the years.
Two concerts on TV tonight: Donovan in concert and Jeff Beck in Concert.

I’m just utterly appalled that this thread has got this far and no-one has nominated This Is Spinal Tap yet. 0215 tomorrow morning on BBC2 if you’re interested.

Except it wasn't a documentary.

If the thread was 'good comedies', it would be right up there!

Searching for Sugarman about an American singer called Rodriguez and how he was, essentially, bigger than almost anyone else in apartheid-era South Africa but everyone thought he was dead is a brilliant film.

Whether you'r a fan or not, the Beatles 'Anthology' is well worth a look. Amazing to think it's almost thirty years old now.

Another one which comes to mind is 'Don't Look Back' with Bob Dylan from 1965.

Runnin' Down a Dream is a documentary about Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

It chronicles their 30 year history from the beginning up to 2006. It's directed by Peter Bogdanovich and is 4 hours long, so will keep you occupied for an evening.

I enjoyed "Cobain : Montage of Heck" - as you might expect the story of Kurt Cobain and Nirvana.....
