Always been a big Led Zep fan, too young to have seen them live but saw Page and plant play wembley a few years back.
Same here. Must put you right though: Led Zep were NOT heavy metal. They were just the greatest rock band ever to walk the planet.

I heard that the phrase "heavy metal" was invented to describe Led Zeppelins then-unheard-of sound . . . the genre has changed a bit but they were the original IYSWIM.

The origin of "Heavy Metal" ?

V.1 Review of Hawkwind in Sounds, describing thier sound

V.2 Used by William Seward Burroughs in one of his novels in the sixties , "The Soft Machine" Name of Novel also used as name of non-heavy metal band "Soft Machine"

Music is very important to me - I LOVE Heavy Metal - for me:

I think Soulfly and Max Cavalera are geniuses hence I love
Soulfly/Sepultura

Also:
Slipknot (embarrassed about this)
RATM
Mudvayne
Hatebreed, Trivium, Killswitch Engage and Chimaira all make some great songs.

Machine Head changed my life. I mean that.
Their album "The More Things Change" is as good is gets musically for me.

Stuff like this just makes me laugh. I just don't get the appeal of it at all.

Each to their own though.
