Have we had Best Drummer yet?

Very strange video, though it does go with the music...
I often find myself with Geek USA stuck in my head at work, it happens with me for certain songs, something makes a noise that reminds me of a part of a song and then I'm stuck singing the song for the rest of the day, but I haven't worked out what it is that's making the noise that makes me think of Geek USA. It's quite strange...

I get that too. I listen to music on the walk into work, and usually have the last song that played before I turn up at work in my head all morning. Today it's "extreme ways" by Moby.I often find myself with Geek USA stuck in my head at work, it happens with me for certain songs, something makes a noise that reminds me of a part of a song and then I'm stuck singing the song for the rest of the day, but I haven't worked out what it is that's making the noise that makes me think of Geek USA. STEWART COPELAND
TAYLOR HAWKINS
MANU KATCHE
GAVIN HARRISON
SIMON PHILLIPS
NEIL PEART
THOMAS LEJON
TRILOK GURTU
JOJI HIROTA

An interesting choice! Probably not someone who would spring to mind to most people if asked, but certainly worthy of a mention. PHIL COLLINS

I have a video of Crowded House where at one point they are all stood together at the front of the stage performing 'Sister Madly' with Paul Hester with a snare drum and brushes. At one point he uses them to strike the strings on Nick Seymour's bass with quite an interesting effect.

videos, always trying to enforce the drummer should be up front as much as
anyone else (as seen in the 'Weather With You' video.)
Yet he was always there as the driving force, never missing a beat - that took
real class and he brought something to the drumming world few other have.
I was at the show with Neil & Tim Finn the day the news broke about his death,
it has to be the most emotional concert I have ever witnessed.
Another couple of contenders:

Brian Blade - Superlative funk + jazz drummer, playing with Wayne Shorter Quartet right now
Zigaboo - The Meters. So much feel.
David Garibaldi - Tower of Power, what else can you say!
Elvin Jones - Surprised not to have seen his name yet, epic jazz drummer
Paul Motion - One of the pioneers of rhythmic displacement w/ The Bill Evans trio
?uestlove - The Roots. Again, supreme feel and amazing sensibility.
It's all about feel, and where drummers sit in the pocket. Anyone with half decent coordination can put in the time to build up the chops to pound out a 128th note solo, but knowing when not to play takes much, much more.
