Off all my guitars this is the one I would never sell, built this from scratch a few years back and made it exactly how I wanted it, wide bound neck
with both E strings a decent distance from the edge of the fingerboard, my pet hate strings that slip off the edge of the frets!, maple thru neck with
no bulky heel, 24 chunky frets, ebony board, old Brazilian Mahogany for the body and a single Seymour Duncan.

Fair play, chap!

I would not have a clue how i) to build my perfect guitar, because ii) I've no idea what it would be, and iii) I have the woodworking skills of a blacksmith i.e. none whatsoever.

Great job Master of Puppets; I always admire those who can build from scratch rather than assemble from bits like I do. biggrin I do get where you're coming from though in that you've made something very specific for your tastes, like my self build Strat. Assembled from parts, though I did spray it myself, but it's an unusual combination of electrics and a very fat (for a Strat) neck that suits my hands well.

Had our first rehearsal tonight since our last gig in December and pleased to say it went well and the Strat sounded as good as ever.

Tomorrow I'm going to sort out some gear that I'm not using and get it advertised so I can buy some other gear I think I will use in my new music room. Hoping I don't wake too many idiots on Facebook but I'm not keen on using Reverb or eBay to sell things (though happy to buy from them, which I guess it a bit hypocritical, but never mind smile ).

Nice LP.
My guess a Gibson? Or maybe a Burny or an Epiphone?

Probably a Gibbo as it has the ABR-1 bridge.

Timeless design.

Hope it's properly set-up at the factory.

If not pop it round to me...probably take me about 10 years to do it really properly though. wink

My Gibson SG Standard came really nicely set up; my LP is an Epiphone and more like Trigger's broom after years of upgrades and a re-fret biggrin . Also my Gibson LP Junior played perfectly too, so they can set them up properly (or maybe the shops I bought them from did).

Don't know if it's the neck joint location or what, but my SG special's
action can be perfect on Sunday but crap a week later requiring
a truss rod tweak and a bridge adjustment.

It can't be humidity as I live in Scotland and it never leaves my house,
yet my Ricky can be left for months and it's perfect.

Sounds a bit odd; once set it's rare any of my guitars need the truss rod adjusting. It always amazes me how on USA guitar forums they seem to need to do it so frequently, but they do have changes of humidity to deal with. I know some SG necks can be a bit 'whippy'. Mine is a slim taper (tried to get a rounded 50s but not many about), but it seems pretty stable to be fair.

Probably going to,mangle it but iirc it’s a custom shop m2m vos. Murphy was a little more expensive. 👊👍

That sounds similar to the one my cousin's son bought a while back; I had a brief play and it was lovely. I'm sure you don't need me to say it, but enjoy. beer

The problem being you can only play one at once?

True for all of us, although in my case I suspect it's not so much 'play' as 'butcher songs with my own enthusiastic renditions'...

I need a new guitar: I want something with a Floyd Rose and whilst I've got an Ibanez Universe I've discovered (after several years) that I just don't get on with 7 strings, so as soon as I can be bothered it's going on the 'Bay.

Question is, what do I get as it's six-string replacement? I don't really want to spend any more than I'll get for the Universe, so something in the region of a grand, but that sadly rules out the Jackson PC-1 or USA Soloist that I've been coveting for ages. I've had a Ibanez Joe Satriani model and whilst it played well the pickups weren't punchy enough so I sold it (instead of just replacing the pickups, silly boy).

Suggestions please!
