I have a very nice Segull 12 string acoustic. It has a bolt on neck like a lot of segulls of its era and the sound is very nice.
So do my 12-string Taylor and my 6-string Patrick James Eggle. Both sound stunning. There are a lot of things to concern oneself about the way a guitar is built, but whether it's got a bolt-in neck or not is one of them in my view.Driller said:

But for an instrument alone (those violins and acoustics, but including the electric guitar) a bolt-on neck is a negative factor.
Violins and acoustic guitars are fundamentally different to solid electrics. For solid electric guitars bolt-on necks are NOT negative factors.Hi again
Sorry- didn't mean to cause an argument about solid necks
Anyhow, here's another one!!
I don't know much about this guitar but have a suspicion that it may be home made!!
Pickups are Burns Tri Sonic and whammy is Rangemaster, It came in the lovely Selmer case, Also bought a Marshall DSL401 amp from him too (Bootsale seller) He said that it worked OK when I bought it but I don't think he'd tried it!! The valves are burnt so it'll be going in for new valves and biassing (or whatever it is those wizards do with them!!
Paid £25 each for the amp and guitar...
Cheers, John

I think I'd better visit you local car boot sale.
I was gonna, say where the hell is that car boot, I want in on some of that action, we just tend to get ratty old Encore acoustics at ours! That was around seven or eight years ago so £30 was worth a lot more

I really like them, this is the first guitar I've owned with active pups, so I can't really compare them to others.
I had read that they're not great at clean tones, but to be honest they're good enough for me and I think they sound fine. They're definitley more versatile than me, that's for sure. Sound good for blues and rock, I've yet to venture into some more metal tones with them.

Strangely I asked because I'd heard really good things about the cleans on them in comparison to EMG's. I'm sure they'll acquit themselves admirably with metal. My son's now just over a year old and has owned his Strat copy for all of that time (he's taken a bit of an interest in it from time to time). However, it's not really a very good bit of kit (£25 from ebay) and so I've just replaced it with an Ibanez RG320FM. It arrives soon, I can't wait! Err, I mean he can't wait for it to arrive.
