I use a Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister 18. 1 watt for home use with options for 5 and 18 watts.
Can't fault it, compact and easily portable and produces some great sounds.
I was going to suggest exactly this earlier on today. 2 channel with lead boost (all foot switchable), FX loop, redbox DI for recording. A lot of amp for the money and after spending some time demoing one very versatile. Fantastic bit of kit. Can't fault it, compact and easily portable and produces some great sounds.
Popped into guitar guitar in glasgow on my way to the airport. Fender bass breaker looks cool and well priced for the 7w. Had a good look around and got severe GAS for a custom shop tele and Mesa boogie combo, so pretty!
I have thought about building one yes. Because I'm a speccy geek I know more about guitars and amp tech than I should for a very bad player, and think I could do justice to the build. I just think they're poor value for the kit as the parts surely don't amount to anywhere near what Weber charge. Guess I need to research and buy the bits separately. watch this space!
In the meantime - Adam, how much for the laney cub?

Went out to my little local 2nd hand inde guitar shop to buy some picks st lunchtime, came out with this
It's just a Mexican strat, translucent red, late 90's probably but it's got much newer noiseless pickups and had new bridge and tuners at some point.
Sounded pretty good through the crappy demo amp in the shop, sounds fking awesome through my v40

I like your style Lefty. A bit of an up sell from some picks. I managed to avoid going into Andertons last week when I was working nearby as I know I'd have come home with something I shouldn't. I'll be near Absolute Music tomorrow, so I'll see if I can stay strong.
Is it just me that was confused though; I saw 'Lefty' and the picture of the guitar, but then realised it was upside down and is a right handed guitar.

Haha, I've never been to Andertons but I'd like to! Is it just me that was confused though; I saw 'Lefty' and the picture of the guitar, but then realised it was upside down and is a right handed guitar.
I have no idea why my frigging iPhone turned that photo round. It's definitely a righty though. And I'm definitely not a Lefty. Confusing, eh?
I can't remember if I've posted my Strat here, I really need to get some proper photos of it outdoors to really show the figuring of the white burst over the flamed maple. I fking love this guitar.
It's the fourth Strat I've owned (started with a Squier, then a MIM, followed by a MIJ YJM sig strat and now the MIJ Kotzen strat). I've owned more guitars than I can count and I always like to have at least one Fender. I think that I'll add a Telecaster again at some point too.

I was wondering about this sort of thing?
With those the amp is great, the cab really lets it down though. I used mine with a Vox 1x10 which was a huge improvement. After plugging away for a few years I treated myself to an American Standard P Bass, lovely thing and I'll probably be buried with it. Then it was joined a month ago by a Yamaha TRB 5 string. This is a bit of a weighty beast, but a pleasing enough sound to my uneducated ears.
