Just had news my custom order luxxtone tele is ready to ship, love luxxtone guitars, have a few of them now,and been waiting 7 months for this one to be made
Yes I know , lets not go into the aged blah blah debate again, I know its not for everyone, but I like it and its my guitar so that's that
Lovely neck on this ,and seem to have a fetish now for reversed headstocks and as always Floyd rose's

hopefully will be shipped to me soon

I don't care what others think of relicing either; that looks fantastic. The neck looks filthy. Love it!

Did you know it's in Luxxtone's Sold gallery online?

6th Gear,

Yep, bought new from WG. Such a shame Jeff passed away recently, he was a real character.

I've seen your guitar in earlier posts; excellent taste smile Mine is 23/24 from the limited run they did. Have you still got yours?

Humbuckers and a Floyd Rose do not look right on a tele.

IMHO.frown

Relicing looks good though.

My thirteen year old daughter had to complete a 'hanging storage' project for her textiles lessons at school, which showed pleating and quilting. She decided to base her work on my favourite guitar and make something I could hang in my home office and use to store a few guitar related bits.

I think the end result is really cool, so thought I'd share it smile

Excellent! Does she do commissions?

Built over 100 guitars in the last 25 years but this one has remained as my main and special axe, built it in 1990, its a striaght thru neck with mahogany sides and an ebony board, jumbo frets and an extremely low action, hand painted acrylic NoTB graphic with car lacquer on top, kind of based on a Jackson Soloist (which was miles out of reach to me in 1990 smile.

Ordered me this, Mark Knopfler 58 les paul. One of 75 standard historic spec released, i have placed a standby order ( but i do not believe i have a good chance) for one of the 50 hand signed true historic spec versions which is the one i really wanted. these true historic spec ones are apparently aged and played by Mark himself although to what extent i dont know.

No idea on when to expect yet, but i do know that a, it wont come soon enough and b, it will be a very good day.

Thought i best add as only one per shop and don't want to worry anyone on here who may of bought theirs from guitarguitar, this is t where i got it from but it was the only place i could find a proper picture.

That's a lovely looking thing, not sure about being aged by Mark Knopfler though. How could he age 50 guitars?

To be honest im not sure, it hasn't been made that clear on what the differences between the three versions are, which is one of the reasons i went for the middle option.

The only thing I've really been told is that all of the 50 true historic ones and all of the 75 standard historic one have been sold with only a few of the 150 "normal" ones left so be quick if interested. That said if i do manage to find a true historic version i could let people know before i release my deposit for the standard version.

The 58 Les paul MK is not aged by Mark Knopfler, yes there are 50 signed by him ,and I should Imagine they are going to get snapped up pretty quickly indeed
think the confusion comes from the description where it states '50 aged & signed by Mark Knopfler'
its the signing bit it means not the ageing
Really would love to get one myself but think they may be like rocking horse poop!

I couldnt find anyone in the UK who had a standard historic version, an i couldnt find anyone anywhere with the true historic version, even spoke to Gibson who confirmed all 50 are allocated. As before when i checked there were only a handful of the normal (150 release) version left.

Have you managed to find out the differences in the models, if so could you point in the direction of a help sheet or spec sheet as very much bought blind!

It's a relic from the Gibson Custom shop, made to the exact specification of Mark's Les Paul, down to the last scratch.

If you want one, speak with Andertons.

Just spoke to Andertons they had 8 in total, only 2 of which were the true historic versions others I geuss split between standard historic and the normal one. Non available to purchase (damn you for getting my hopes up, not really I'm happy for any lead which may result in me getting the true historic).

Yes very much aware they are gibosn custom shop , I was making the point its been misinterpreted , ie Mark has not aged them
They should of made more aged & signed ones..reckon a run of 100 would of sold out as well...that's another 50 x £10k they could of bagged, a mere half a mill....got a feeling most if not all of the aged & signed ones end up stateside, maybe one will pop up for sale somewhere with a sizeable premium!
Billy Gibbons aged & signed & Jimmy Page ones don't come up very often & when they do they are certainly pricey, so really as much it seems daft blowing big cash on one, they probably will be a reasonable investment long term. I think any low runs signed by the top iconic artists are certainly the ones that have the best long term value, which it seems many others do ,hence they become so hard to get hold of...

Apparently the true historic ones are "only" £6k ish.

Dont get me wrong its a big number but surprised that not a bigger difference as the standard historic is £5500 and the other one is £4200

I agree with whats been said about it being a collectors piece, unfortunately mine will be used almost daily and will therefore be almost worthless in a few years time.

Personally I hate the idea of guitars as investment pieces. I'd rather the kit I buy didn't lose too much in value, but I use it. Those 50 MK signed guitars will never get used and come back on the market for inflated money further down the line.

This isn't a dig at "signature" guitars that cost a premium BTW, I play a Clapton Strat, because I wanted the features on it. And as it's a production run piece it lost money the day I bought it and I'm fine with that. Means I can use it and not fret too much about wear marks on the finish. What I object to is the market being distorted by people buying stuff to never use it. Same with limited run cars too.
