The bridge is on my desk - I was toying with the idea of replacing it with something with some intonation adjustment! I'll have a look inside it tomorrow for that wire.

I've got the scratchplate off mine and found a loose orange wire which seems to be the ground from the bridge. I assume I can just solder it to the sleeve connection of the input jack?

Yes.

And replace that jack socket while you are at it. Get a Switchcraft unit, they're worth the extra.

Had a quick peer inside, it's as gazza said - to sleeve on the jack.

Does anyone have (or played) a Gretsch Electromatic (2016 onwards models) and what are your opinions of it? .I've got my eye on a double cut hollow-body model, such as the enigmatically named wink G5422T looks pretty close to a Country Gentleman model, but at a price much more palatable (couldn't justify a £2k+ model for my skill level/limited gigs and open mics).

New amp day - Yamaha THR100HD going into two TECH21 FRFR power engines. Bit of learning curve in getting my sound but reckon with a bit of time some great sounds are lurking in it.

Nice. Silly question but how does the TH100HD cope at very low volumes? My Mesa 5:25 is great but just that bit loud at home.

Although me and the boy only play at home, we’ve accumulated a few pedals which were starting to look messy on the sideboard so this week I purchased a pedalboard. I went for the Temple Audio Duo 24 and it’s really simple to get a neat looking board due to the unique mounting system. Not ideal if you buy and sell a lot of pedals but definitely good otherwise.

DIY solderless patch cables work best as you can pass them through the smaller holes in the board as well as the larger dedicated ones. I also included the 4 way patch cable terminal and completely unnecessary LED lighting. Looks funky though IMHO.

Love that. Been slowly building out a pedal board...

It’s very wife friendly. Cables aren’t an attractive thing to have in the home apparently smile

That THR also has a decent Wife Acceptance Factor, according to my research. Not so much for a Marshall Bluesbreaker, alas!

It most certainly was an important factor when buying it as well as sounding great. The Cube has gone upstairs in the boys room where my wife doesn’t have to look at it.

no problem at all to play at social volume and still have some decent sustain. Finding the Tech21's are a bit naturally boxy sounding (used to a Marshall 50w head through a greenback loaded 4 x 12 which sounds glorious) but working through 200 cab impulses so will hopefully find the sweet spot in the end

I may have put this on here before, but I put a 2x12 cabinet behind my acoustically transparent projector screen, so it is literally invisible and very high on the WAF scale. The Marshall head is in a cupboard:

Obviously have to keep the door open while playing:

I’m curious as to why you have gone for powered cabs, when the head has a two channel power amp section, what’s the reason?

I had them already from a few years back when I had a Line 6 PodXT so seemed logical to use them although struggling last night to get rid of what seems to be an inherently boxy sound they have so might just get the dedicated 2 x 12 cab and sell them on

Thanks thumbup
Pretty much anything will sound boxy after a 4x12!
