Judging purely by the maple headstock that’s a CE model
It is indeed. So US made but with a bolt on neck, so from a price perspective it’s a middle ground between the US core guitars and the Indonesian made SE line.Did consider a ‘core’ guitar but given the current situation spending 4K on a guitar I have limited time to play seemed beyond frivolous. Especially since I barely play the acoustic I already have.
anyone got any experience with schecter guitars?
currently running a gibson les paul standard as my main guitar.. does everything perfectly for my style of play.
i've got a '76 right handed fender strat restrung left handed...hardly ever use it tbh... i stuck a dimarzio humbucker on the bridge hoping to give it a bit more oomf.....didn't work so it currently is just a noodler for clean 2 handed fretboard playing...
i wanted to explore the extended range gear so last year i jumped in and bought an ESP ltd stephen carpenter 8 string...just couldn't get on with it. i tune everything down a half step then tune the low string down a further 2 steps for a "drop D" tuning but obviously in C# on my 6 stringers and play with a very fast/palm muted style.... 8 string low register is for note play, not chord play and apart from the mind fk of having 8 strings to deal with i just couldn't/wouldn't alter my style completely to accommodate it (never mind not being able to settle on a tuning i was happy with)
i think i should have bought a 7 string all along if i'm being honest.... really encouraging reviews on some of the schecter guitars and i'm definitely being drawn to the active over passive pick up stuff which seems would suit my playing quite well.
any of you guys got experience with schecter?? with it being a niche brand, me being left handed AND a rather unusual extended range guitar nobody stocks them in the uk so i'd be getting one ordered in from california untested.

If you have the budget, I’d recommend a Keith Merrow KM7, played the KM6 in Andersons a couple of years ago and was well impressed, GuitarGuitar seem to offer it as a left hooker as well: https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/19012133781...currently running a gibson les paul standard as my main guitar.. does everything perfectly for my style of play.

Schecter QC seems pretty on point from what I’ve heard as well. The only reason I didn’t go for the the KM6 is that I got a blinding deal on a Ibanez RG Prestige.
I've a Schecter Diamond Series Synyster Standard, so it's nothing crazy spec wise. It's got Duncan Inspired passives and a Floyd, I'm going to be selling it but my only reasons are the floyd is a pain in the backside for me & I'm not bonding with the body shape, I find it awkward for both sitting & standing, sitting pushes my strumming arms elbow out too far and standing pushes the neck further away from me and just leaves me uncoordinated!
Those aside, which are more personal preference, even for a cheaper one it's very well made, I bought it used and it's got a couple marks but everything has held up fine, from things I've played in similar price ranges from that friends own from the likes of Jackson, QC does seem to be a bit better.
I've just picked up my ESP LTD (on the previous page) and it's my first venture in to active pickups and I absolutely love them. Assuming by your recent choices and looking at actives you're more in to high gain, metal playing?
Biggest thing that has caught me out with guitars has been neck profiles. I'm used to fairly shallow necks and was mainly what I played for years, so playing chunkier U shaped can be a struggle for me, again that's personal and may not be applicable to you.

great info cheers pal.... in my mind i'm still not sure i'll bond with a 7 over a 6 so probably best not to go mad just now (second hand extended range left hookers isn't exactly a booming market!!)Schecter QC seems pretty on point from what I’ve heard as well. i'll look further into the merrow though cheers pal

nice to hear the quality statement again.... most of what i'm reading tells me they are punching above their weight somewhat!!Those aside, which are more personal preference, even for a cheaper one it's very well made, I bought it used and it's got a couple marks but everything has held up fine, from things I've played in similar price ranges from that friends own from the likes of Jackson, QC does seem to be a bit better.

lovely looking LTD by the way, exact same bridge as my les paul ...i love that you can roll your palm on and off that bridge set up to vary the level of choke when you're playing.....
the neck profile on my LTD 8 string is c shape but even so with 8 strings the fretboard is like a runway..
i definitely need an active set up as a lot of my chords are a bit, .... odd! .... very influenced by deftones, quicksand, glassjaw and those sorts of bands.....so yeah, active pickups for crunchy tight playing
here's a clip on my insta of tracking a tune last august...clip top right...

what i didn't like about the carpenter 8 string was the loss of clarity in the lower register... i'm a choked chord guy, not a single string chugger...
i really want to tackle the 7/8 string thing as i do listen to a lot of progressive stuff like tesseract, animals as leaders, night verses etc.. and while not wanting to play in that style particularly i do love the idea of ever bigger and stranger chord progressions ( the stuff i'm writing now is a bit more off kilter than the ep i did last year)

That sounds ace! I can get from your style/inspiration the want to venture in to more strings, I was very tempted by a 7 string this time around but couldn't say no to my new one. I'm very impressed with the EMGs that are in mine (81/60) and it seems really versitile, been lazy this week so have mainly just been playing simple stuff like rammstein and the like. Really high output but super clean, helps out surprisingly with general background noise for high gain stuff, not been using a gate. lovely looking LTD by the way, exact same bridge as my les paul ...i love that you can roll your palm on and off that bridge set up to vary the level of choke when you're playing.....

There isn't a "Let's look at our broken guitars" thread...
But I've fked the jack plate on my Epiphone es 345, it's the stereo output one so I've had no luck on the Internet finding one, does anyone know a good source of reasonably rare guitar spare parts? Epiphone have just suggested my local dealer but they're all closed up.
Found one, or something similar... cheers dude! i think for me the jump from 6 to 8 was too big.... i feel that during my writing process it will be very advantageous to have that extra low string to broaden things, particularly the cleaner jazzier chords...i tend to write guitar tracks in pairs... sometimes 3s...so it will be really interesting for me to wilfully take ideas i have on the gibson then write the opposing guitar parts on the 7 string... i really like the idea of wring for a 6 and 7 string simultaneously...
fk it , i think i'm gonna jump in withe the active set up demon for starters..

you've been thrashing out in the living room and smashed into the telly haven't you
Ha ha, I don't thrash about, I'm more BB King than Rage Against the Machine these days (in my head anyway) i'm 45 now and becoming more polar....in my teens it was hardcore, as i got into my 20s it was hardcore fused with nu metal and bits of jazz and flamenco chord shapes were coming in...by my 30s i was all nylon string finger picking.... fallow period late 30s for a year or 2 then end up hitting 40 with a taste for ever heavier heavies and ever more intricate cleans...by the time we get these next 5 tracks recorded i don't know what the hell it's gonna sound like
