Pointy knob is the pickup selector, two switches are coil taps, then there are two concentric pots for individual tone and volume for each pickup.

Most favourite is the Suhr...amazingly versatile sounds and a joy to play.
What a stunning collection... and that Suhr looks sublime. WIsh I could justify such a beauty in both talent and cost.

Wonderful collection. My BRMR Jem is my favourite Ibanez neck, my JS25 is my favourite overall.
Many thanks! Your Ibanez collection is awesome - I’ve only played the Vais, never the Satch line. Is there a big difference in feel? The chrome boy is incredible.

V kind, thanks. The Suhr opened my ears to TV Jones pickups - they’re absolutely fantastic. It’s a pine guitar and v heavy but I can’t stop playing it. Sublimely made and would recommend Suhrs in a heartbeat.

Thank you. paperbag

Even to a luddite like me, the feel is quite pronounced. The closest feel I have come to for the JCraft JS is akin to a private library PRS or a modded late 50's Strat. The JS has more.... Versatility but less substance, if you get my drift?

Used part of lockdown to restore this 1995 Epiphone Les Paul from the Samick factory, these seem to be rated but this one when I bought it off eBay from £70 was a bag of bits and the back of the neck and body had been sanded to bare wood not very well . Sunburst finish on the was still in reasonable condition just covered in 25 years of dirt.

That is a stunning restoration. I prefer no pickguards but it looks great there - and a glorious finish. Is it as playable as it looks? What a buy!

Nice job Earlofdrift. I've got one exactly the same that I bought 'new' in 1995, though the serial number indicates it was made in 1990 apparently. Your pickup rings and other plastics have aged the same as mine too. I've had to replace various bits due to wear over the years (bridge sagged, electrics went crackly and I put in a set of Bareknuckle Mules as the original ones went very microphonic). It's a bit like 'Trigger's broom' now. smile Currently it's away having a second refret as the first guy made such a mess of it, but I can't get it back under current rules.

Gratuitous picture of mine (I pinched the 60s style knobs off my Gold Top 60s Tribute after I changed the pots to CTS ones):

Your top is much fancier than mine though. I like the stripes on yours. smile

Well, if we're playing snap

Bought this new in '96 by taking my pocket/chore/birthday etc money into the shop weekly for like 6 months. I've not really played it in years, resigned to its case these days

EarlofDrift - just superb. Great work. Makes me want to try, but to take the pickguard off and try a colour change.

I'd love an iguana Burst.

Doesn't look like the top has been refinished?

Iguana burst looks good though, do love a quilt top. I'm currently eyeing up the following Feline Lion to match my other two purple guitars...

I just pretty much finished up my latest build - a second Strandberg 7 with a few improvements. It’s a 25.5” - 27” scale length fan fret 7 string. It has a chambered European ash body with a flamed maple cap and a Rosewood neck with Ebony fingerboard. Went with the trusty old EMG 81 pickups.

Still need to route for the control cavity cover but should get that done tomorrow.

It’s quite lightweight For a seven string (3.1kg / 6.8 lbs) - much lighter than the Hohner G3T next to it in the pics. It’s also only about half an inch longer due to the design and balances really nicely.

I’m pretty pleased with how it plays - needs a tweak to the string gauges as I’ve made the high strings a little looser than I’d like usually - but action is low and buzz free smile

Just about to start another headless build for my young son - will be a Hohner “the jack” type with a very short 20ish inch scale length. It looks tiny printed out - hopefully it will be playable!

Man, I always feel like I would be cramped on those, despite the fact its a optical illusion.

Lovely thing - nice one.

They are both full size - no cramping necessary smile I find it tough playing anything that’s not headless these days - I find I’m bouncing the headstock off things constantly.

If you think the top is tasty, have a look at the neck joint tongue out
