What wood is that?
The top is solid flamed maple - the base of the body is Ash.

Been playing out tonight, not gigging obviously, but the first time in our band room for a while. Not properly though, our drummer is still self isolating as he is in the “at risk” group.

Another restoration completed, the customs are great guitars for very little money unless you have £3k for a Gibson equivalent. Kept the Lucky Cat sticker which in the current climate is now probably deemed racist.

I'm not big on the shape or the colours of that particular one, but the craftmanship is absolutely immense.

Happy new guitar day to me!

Been dithering over SGs for a while, saving up towards an epiphone.

But impatience, and realisation that I’m not good enough to spend money on, coupled with a guitar in the hand is better than an epiphone in the bush leads me to this -

For the money, I’m really quite pleased with it. Not had a massive play with it yet, but from what I’ve played, I can see little to complain about.

Cheap guitars FTW.

There is a long discussion re HB on " STRAT-TALK."

Conclusion seems to be that they are real bargains.

Not going to lie, it put me off for quite a long time.

Then swallowed my pride, looked in my mostly empty wallet and said fk it.

It's really just the offset ESP Viper body shape that was popular around 16 years ago, matched with the aesthetic style of a proper SG. Given the utter crap that Gibson make these days, the HB probably isn't that far off the real thing.

I was going to say similar. I have an ESP LTD Viper to which I've added Seymour Duncan pickups and CTS pots and I'd go so far as to say that it will knock spots off a Gibson SG standard.

Not added much here over the last year, so decided to spruce up an old favourite. My first Gibson. An SG Junior, purchased in 2011 I think for not much. It's OK, but a little bland. So over lunchtime, it went from this:

To this:

Cost: £2.99. I feel very happy for that biggrin

They look very well made, but a bit pointy for me! I'm very partial to something made with a collection of special woods, have been following this guy for a while - https://barlowguitars.com/ - only problem being he's US based

I can recommend Patrick James Eggle - v nice and helpful to deal with and fabulous build quality. If you like different woods, he’s the man. Mine has a bog oak fretboard...apparently super-old wood. Lots of options to choose from and the guitar plays so well (unlike me)

I would post a pic but it keeps going on its side and I’m not techie enough to rotate it...

I really should get this sold as I’m a poor guitarist and it belongs in the hands of someone that can play it properly (a cheap o Yamaha will do for me).

I just pretty much finished up my latest build - a second Strandberg 7
Congratulations on the work, but it's not a Strandberg if you made it yourself.
