I can recommend Patrick James Eggle - v nice and helpful to deal with and fabulous build quality. If you like different woods, he’s the man. Mine has a bog oak fretboard...apparently super-old wood. Lots of options to choose from and the guitar plays so well (unlike me)

I would post a pic but it keeps going on its side and I’m not techie enough to rotate it...
I own a ‘92 Eggle, not that interested in his new stuff which is just his take on strat/lester

I really should get this sold as I’m a poor guitarist and it belongs in the hands of someone that can play it properly (a cheap o Yamaha will do for me).

Do not put yourself down.

An instrument should be judged on its quality, not by the quality of the player.

Seriously, this is probably £750+ quids worth of guitar and I can barely hold a tune or a rhythm. It would give me more pleasure to hear someone play it properly. I’ve bought myself a Ukulele to tinker with, maybe 4 strings is more my level. If the Ovation is of any interest drop me a PM.

Yes, let's be honest, we don't need this many guitar builders do we, when all they're doing is churning out yet more Strat/Tele/LP/335 clones. And charging more than the real ones cost. If I'm paying that much, I want something fresh and original.

(Same reason I can't be bothered to go and see covers bands.)

I modified my Fender Malibu acoustic to add a (fake) Fishman 301 piezo pickup. For the price of approx £14 sound quality is very good, and it includes a mic that can be mixed with the piezo. I was a bit nervous hacking my guitar with a saw but it turned out OK.

Also finally finished the partscaster I was building, but it needs better pickups so on the lookout for some... probably Wilkinsons. It's actually a nice seafoam green but doesn't come out well in photos

You're a braver man than I am gmaz. I limit my hacking about to electrics.

I've just finished building this for a bit of fun on lockdown. It's a Pitbull guitar kit from Australia. I upgraded the pots and rewired it with sleeved wire. Quite pleased for a first attempt. I just wish I could play it!!

Bought this just before lockdown and had to wait until July to go and collect it.

I had always fancied a Danelectro Longhorn since I saw Golden Earring with one in my schooldays.

Tried it out at rehearsal after a good clean and polish, adjusting the pickups string height etc and what do you know? It is absolutely fantastic, should have got one years ago!

The non original nylon coated strings give it a kind of compressed sixties tone but it will still cut through if the tone is set fully up. Amazing sound with a pick especially when palm muted and the lipstick pickups seem pretty powerful.

Took a little getting used to the short scale and weird hard plastic strings but the guys in the band love it despite the odd peachburst finish.

I think it was made in Korea around the turn of the century, certainly not as shoddily put together as an original 50s Dano, eg no adhesive tape finish on the sides, still has a wooden bridge saddle and aluminium nut.

I need to find a volume knob for the neck pickup now I have decided to keep it.

Best of all, as it’s mostly made of air, it ways less than 6lb! almost half of my other basses, giving my shoulder a welcome rest as 4hr non stop rehearsals with a Fender can be a trial.

I am going to fit a set of roundwounds soon to see what they sound like but theres nothing the nylon coated strings cannot do apart from slapping which isn't really a problem.

Hi, I'm new here, just looking about the place and thought I'd post some pics.

Lot of very cool guitars over the last few pages I've looked at, but here's what I've got lying about:

Aside from what you can see, there's another Fender Concord somewhere, an Epi Explorer with some electrics missing in the cupboard under the stairs, an old 80s Satellite bass guitar, a didgeridoo, an electric drumkit and a set of bagpipes knocking around.

Very nice, I've built 3 of their kits and play them all

Warlock, I love the smorgasboard collection you have. Something for everyone!

Andy (I think), with the built bass - I really like the stripes on that.

I'm already eyeing up the others to try. I was very impressed with the quality of the kits especially for the price point. Everything fitted very well. The key to the build as with most things is patience especially when applying the finishes.

Decided I needed something P90 in my life. Picked up this almost unused bargain from Reverb a few weeks ago. Took me a little while to get used to. It's more of a 50's style LP thick neck and i usually prefer a thinner 60s style.

Running it through the PDF-2 and a DS-1 with the tone pot rolled off all the way absolutely nails the Josh Homme / QOTSA sound.

I quite fancy trying one of these; it’d be a first electric guitar (I’ve not even played one before) but I’ve been learning on an acoustic for a few months. I do like the idea of building it myself, however purely as a musical instrument are these as good or better than something like a basic Squier which costs about the same and is already built for you?

I’ve sort of made my own question redundant by buying a well used bright red Squier Stratocaster from a chap down the road on Gumtree. It needs a really good clean and new strings but for £40 I can’t go too far wrong. If I really enjoy playing it then perhaps I’ll look to build my next one... smile
