Here's my 95 USA telecaster that I bought brand new in 98. Sold it to a mate a few years ago and always regretted it. Luckily he agreed to sell it back to me, this time its staying for good!
Lovely.

The guy who built my ‘super tele’, (Rich at StormShadow) got this back in part ex so I nabbed it from him.

Birds eye maple neck, ebony board, stainless jumbo frets on a 12” radius, surf green nitro and the Fishman Fluence Greg Koch ‘Gristle tone’ pickups.

Both the Teles above dont look quite right without the iconic saddles.

Decided to have a dabble in the super cheap 7 strings area.

Bought this one on ebay
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-7-String-Gear4Mus...

and ONLY THEN saw a local guy selling a like new 7 string HB.....for £65 biggrin So had that too biggrin
Seems like this ( 105 on thomann minus vat/shipping/import duty so perhaps closer to the price of budgets they sell over here, e.g. at least £150 ).
https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_r_457mn_wh...

Now looking to sell the ebay one lol ( its not quite as good as the HB tbh).....?
Surprised by the HB - seem good for the money for such a crappy price guitar tbh...will do for my occasional fumbling on 7 as I have other better guitars
Pickups obv will be crap could upgrade them later

A bit of demo on it ( recorded on one of those tiny desktop pc microphones they give free with pcs lol about 20 years old to be fair )

I agree but the compensated saddles can be a right pain in the arse.

Really? I put Callaham compensated saddles on mine and they're spot on

I always feel that the fuss about the straight saddles on Teles being paired for compensation is a bit over blown. Don't really have an issue on my Teles with their straight barrel saddles, though I have tried compensated ones of various types over the years (even 'bent' ones). I came to the conclusion that it was close enough for my ears. To be fair only one string even shows as 'off' on the 12th fret on the tuner, so I compensate by tuning that string (bottom E) by fretting a 'B' which evens it out along the string.

I just ordered a pile of parts from various places to put a second Strat together. I'm using a really fat AllParts Rosewood neck for it as a change from the medium 'C' maple neck on my 1982 Strat. The plan is to have a Strat that I can take out to gigs and not be so worried about it getting stolen/lost/damaged...I figured it might as well be a bit different too. Might put a set of Fender '65 PV in it if some used ones turn up, but for now I'll pinch the Bareknuckle Apaches from my No1 Strat and put it's original ones back in.

I also bought some 'Montys Montypresso' wax to help smooth and slightly darken a Pau Ferro Jaguar fingerboard. This one is darker than some anyway, but it seems to have benefited and also made the bright white fret markers a bit less harsh too. It's left the fingerboard feeling really smooth too (I've previously sanded it with very fine paper):

I'm converting the neck to vintage tuners. I've already fitted the adaptor bushes, but just waiting for a non-aged set to arrive: I bought the aged version for Strat No2, so I was able to check fit, etc. Hoping to get this Jaguar back together by the weekend. smile

Little help please.

I fancy a Les Paul Junior style guitar.

Choices as i see them are Gibson Les Paul Junior, Ephiphone Les Paul Junior, Harley Benton DC.

Im sure there are loads that i have missed out and preferably want to spend as little as possible whilst ending up with something quality.

Current guitars are Gibson Les Paul Deluxe, Fender Mexican Stratocaster, Squier Affinity Telecaster.

Max budget allowing for 10% creep becuase I know how this site works at spending others money! Is £1k

If you can find £1k then you might be able to get a Gibson Les Paul Junior: That's exactly what I paid for mine, but it was a year ago. I know prices have gone up, but I've seen a few around for that price, ex-display, so you might be lucky. Mine had a nice rounded 50s style neck profile, which makes a nice change from my slim profile SG and 60s Tribute Les Paul. It's beautifully made too; one of the few guitars I own that I haven't felt the need to change anything other than some cosmetic changes for knobs and trust rod cover, so it's more like a 50s Junior would be.

The Epiphone version has a rounded neck profile too, but the colour (to me) seems a bit odd. It's also poly rather than nitro, so that may or may not be a negative. Hell of a lot cheaper though, so there is that...

I've never tried a Harley Benton version, so can't help with that.

Gratuitous pictures of mine:

I just finished putting my Jaguar project together tonight. I've converted it to 2 single coils and vintage tuners, from the original 'Player' spec of single coil neck/humbucker bridge. The extra knob will eventually control an Eric Clapton mid boost, but I've left that out for now as I was too keen to play it. smile I gave it some more of the Monty's wax before I put it together. It was quite close visually to the Junior's Rosewood fingerboard before I did this and it's even closer now:

How about a Gordon Smith? UK made and £1k will get you a custom one; they are great guitars. You can choose single or double cut, various pickup configurations, etc.

I’ve got a GS1...

A mate bought a Les Paul Junior and had trouble with the intonation, he took it to a luthier who found the bridge fixings were 1/4” out of position.
Turned out this was not an isolated example, poor show from a premium manufacturer, on the bright side the headstock hasn’t broken yet .
