Lets look at our guitars thread
Discussion
How did Hendrix get such an overdriven sound from his Stratocaster, as far as I can tell his guitar in the live version of Voodoo Child was equipped with single coils.
I know he was running through a wah pedal, was he also using distortion pedals?
I'm very new to the guitar world so forgive me for what is probably a simple question to answer.

Jimi loved a fuzz face, diming a Marshall probably didn’t hurt either
Diming ? AC failure ?gazza285 said:
A dime is ten cents, diming is turning all the controls up to ten. It is almost as if Google does not exist...
Interesting, I get where you're coming from but I always thought that it was a relatively new term referring to 'DimeBag' Darryl Abbott, the late and sorely missed guitarist from Pantera and his propensity to turn all the controls on his amp to full to get his signature sound.JaymzDead said:

Lovely lovely colour :-)Might not look much different to the previous photo in tinted primer, but I managed to get 3-4 coats of gloss on the body over this weekend. It's turning out pretty well and the neck (which I lacquered earlier this week) looks really good now. I buffed it up and got the tuners and their bushes fitted yesterday and gave the Rosewood a much needed treatment. I've spent ages smoothing the edges of the fingerboard and fret ends, plus buffing it up so it feels really smooth. I can't wait to play it, so might fit it to my brown Strat just to try it out.
Body as of today:

Got to be patient and not rush the body now...

yeah i always stretch the strings in properly but hadn't really considered the nut being the root of the problem tbh pal..... do you mean the nut slots may not be wide enough for the gauge of string i've put on?
Could be badly cut, or not wide enough as you say. I also find that the strings sometimes are too 'deep' in the slots, so they are buried which adds to the friction (so I sand the top down to remove material). A quick check is to try some 'nut sauce' in the slots and see if this helps. If it does, then take it somewhere to get it done properly. Once I've done mine I never need to use nut sauce anyway, but it's a quick fix, or you can just keep putting it on I suppose.Gassing Station | Music | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
