This just arrived today and I'm super happy biggrin

It's a PRS 35th Anniversary S2 Custom 24 to give it its full name, in McCarty sunburst with mahogany body and neck. It's got coil taps on the humbuckers (the two little toggle switches) which is mostly why I bought it and is also my first guitar with a tremolo having been a Les Paul fan for years. Great service from Guitar Village and they set up it up beautifully too.

Lovely ,I have a s2 custom 24 which I love .

Any recommendations for a parlour sized guitar?

I was looking at the epiphone el-00 but then YT clips of the Gretsch Jim dandy found a sound I want (blues /folk) at a much more reasonable price. However I THEN saw the gretsch rancher penguin in midnight sapphire and I’m kinda in love with it despite it being totally gaudy.

What other options in that admittedly wide price band? We s also thinking a resonator but the parlor seems ideal in terms of sound and volume (spend a lot of time in hotels).

You seen the prices?

However, I could always make a clone…

Unfortunately, I have indeed seen the prices! Clones are the way, I've built a Tone Bender Mk2 clone and despite my questionable soldering, it's become stapled to my board.

Oh good god, I had exactly that amp! It was the first valve amp I owned, beautiful sound and beautiful smell cloud9 Got it from Electric Ladyland in Bristol back in the day. Don’t know how many are left, that very one could be the one I had!

It's funny how perceptions change over time. When I was playing in a band, many years ago, Simms Watts, Laney, WEM and especially Sound City were looked down on as being a bit 'bargain basement'. Everyone aspired to a Marshall. Then the HH IC100's arrived and they were 'the' amp to have. For a bit. I had a lovely '60's AC30 with the blue speakers. £30! Think I sold it for £50 and thought i'd done well.God knows what it'd be worth now. If only I'd kept everything. My old Laney 100w head was blistering. In those days, bigger was better, and a 50w amp was sneered at. And we practised with everything on 11. Pardon?

Looking at 'stuff' I don't use today.

Gretsch 'Billybo' Thunderbird which I hope to get signed by Billy if he makes it back over here... rolleyes

...and a hefty Orange head signed by Jimmy Page back in 2004. Bought at his then-Wife Jimena's charity auction. cool

Some interesting stuff there. Have only seen one Billybo before, in a ZZ Top tribute band, they had the bass as well.
