I used to be a house DJ (or VJ, as was my correct title) in a bar that Joe Elliot and Rick Savage owned in Sheffield, c.1999.

Thoroughly nice chaps, and i'm eternally grateful to them as it gave me the opportunity to meet Natalie Imbruglia and have a drink with her in our VIP bar one evening.

Fell in love with her that night, and still am! (sorry the wife)

I wish we could have some proper stadium gigs again- Def, Bon Jovi, Guns n Roses etc on the same bill at a concert venue would be brilliant (and give us all a chance to wear spandex....). bks to these small, intimate "unplugged" concerts that are trendy...
Bon Jovi are doing some stadium gigs this summer, Def Leppard are touring with Whitesnake & Thunder, I know it's not the 80's any more but they're still out there - they're just a bit older..... rolleyes

saw Def Leppard several years back (might have been the last time they toured) and they had Gun supporting them then. IIRC it was a good concert.

Bonjovi I've seen loads of times, and always put on a good show.

Not sure about going to see either this year, will have to see how finances and time allow.

There are some great new bands around these days who can belt out anthems in a stadium - The Killers and Kaiser Chiefs spring to mind.

There are some other, smaller bands who deserve to fill stadiums but don't just quite yet - saw a band called Lowline a few weeks ago and, if they take off, they'll sound brilliant in front of several tonnes of amps.

I think we've got too many 'singer-songwriters' and bands called 'the something' who do a few broad, catchy pop tunes, get hailed as 'the next big thing' in the NME, then disappear into the bowells of Radio 2 daytime.

Usually support acts for old favourites are worth watching.
You fellas need to come to winnipeg, canada, deff leppard are here in a week or so, followed by Rush in may, Iron maiden in the summer oasis in september, we have just had bon jovi, and john mellancamp, plus ozzy osborne was here before christmas!

We saw the Kaisers at Earls Court and they were fabbo, more guitar hooks and sing-a-long chorus's than you could shake a stick at... Also Muse at Wembley last year - OK, they're not everyone's cup of tea, but it was a hell of a performance and the show was like Old Skool Pink Floyd or Genesis for sheer visual excess and production values. I've not seen anything like it since the days when bands measured their manhood by how much of Edwin Shirley's fleet it took to cart the show around and the bit with the acrobats suspended from giant helium balloons floating over the crowd was just this side of Spinal Tap. Well worth getting hold of a copy of the HAARP DVD for a look, even if you're not generally a fan.
