Don't you just hate it when you hear a lovely piece of music on the TV, but never find out what it is?

Years ago I heard a lovely piece on Cartoon Network in an advert an anime called Dragonball Z, but I never found out what it was. Then a few years later I heard it in HMV in London, but didn't have the presence of mind to go and pester the staff to tell me where it was from.

Never heard it since, it's operatic-ish, I think, so I don't know the lyrics, which is even more annoying. I know how some of it sounded phonetically >.< the next time I hear it I'll be begging someone to tell me where it's from.

I couldn't agree with some of the classical tunes posted so far.

But a more contemporary song that stops my heart and lubricates my eyes is this one:

Sorry, I don't mean to spam the thread, but I just had to add this, it's called "The Promised Land":

Can't beat a bit of Einaudi - going to see his concert in Paris later this month. His music being used everywhere by BBC, especially last album, Divenire (as well as the soundtrack to Kingdom of Heaven). Recommend I Giorni and Divenire to everyone!!!!!

I was talking about the orchestrated thread movement from P&P to Music. Glad you didn't take offence to violently wink

I'm not a big fan of "Nimrod", but that version with Barenboim conducting is rather good!

My father once conducted an assembly of Male Voice choirs at the Albert Hall - they performed a superb rendition of Verdi's Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves.

Always makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck when I hear it performed properly.

Sadly, my father's performance isn't on youtube!
